1 Beginning of the end on Wed Aug 24, 2016 7:52 pm

First topic message reminder :

No one can recall dates any longer. Help was coming, they had promised. Who wouldn't believe the promise made to by the brightest minds of the time to the richest families of the time? It had been long enough now that the original citizens of Rapture now had young adult grandchildren. The city had been built just for them. Their lavish playground, or so they liked to believe. It was many years now since anything had been truly 'lavish', it was only as the joy now made them see it; glorious and delightfully decadent.

Some families considered themselves better than others, and rightly so. Few had the money and the power, while the many lived in squalor. One of these families were the Jansen's. The eldest son had two beautiful daughters, who in the society they had left would no doubt have been attendees of many parties and balls, all for the purpose of finding a husband. As it stood, the youngest girl seemed the most adept at wearing her mask. By day she was the spoiled little princess she was supposed to be, making fun of the lower classes and generally being a horrible person. But as night fell and her joy pill began to wear off... She often thought of life outside her parent's massive apartment, of life in the 'workers' levels of the city. Anika Jansen would fall asleep troubled by the things her imagination thought up. It was this particular night that she had finally plucked up the courage to slip out of her parent's home, though of course she would stand out a mile in her expensive clothing and perfect make up.

Anika was shrieking with laughter as she and Elliott fell to the ground. The young woman's limbs were flailing about as she tried to wriggle free. "Mercy! Enough!" She gasped between her laughter. It was a sound these garden's hadn't heard in quite some time.

The king smiled, and nodded his head in agreement. "That is true... But is it proper?" He asked, knowing human morals were different than those of the goblin kingdom.

Elliot let her go, his arms feeling empty. "Serves you right." He teased her. He waved his hand and the petals floated into the basket. "Don't go scaring an honest goblin when he's working."

Victoria laughed, almost betraying herself. "Of course not. But if wgo is going to tell a king any different?"

"Working? That's what you call what you were doing?" Anika teased, sitting up on her elbows as she watched Elliott work his magic on the petals.

"His queen?" The king suggested playfully. "Though a king may wonder... why is his bride bathing in the dark?"

"Working...throwing a fit...what's the difference?" Elliot said with a grin. "Now what did you want all these rose petals for?"

She was surprised by the tone in his voice. She hadn't imagined it to take such a playful one. "I have a headache." She confessed, telling the truth. Lately the joy had been making her extremely ill.

Anika was rather suddenly not smiling. "I don't want them." She replied, pulling herself back to her feet and dusting her dress off once more. "I hate roses, Victoria is the one with an over fondness for them."

The king had moved through the darkness as though he were a part of it, standing much closer to Victoria than he had been when she spoke. "I have several mystics who could give you something for a headache." He breathed, though he suspected her knew the cause of Victoria's pain.

Elliot frowned deeply. "The king says that he smells roses when he thinks of his queen. But the prophecy says it's you..."

"I don't believe in magic." Victoria said, her voice filled with sadness. "My belief died with my grandmother and...the roses..."

Anika shook her head. "Either your prophecy is wrong... Or you simply stole the wrong sister." She replied, though her violet eyes seemed almost hopeful. "This is wonderful!" She suddenly declared, grabbing hold of Elliott's hands and jumping up and down in the over excited way she was prone to do. "Your king can marry Tori! She can finally be free of her obligation of caring for me until i am given to the king!"

The king was closer still now, his nose almost touching Victoria's slender throat as he realised she did indeed smell of roses. He had been wrong when he thought Elliott had made a mistake in bringing 'Anika' here. "You don't need to believe... Little Ani."

Elliot groaned, the petals tumbling all over the ground as he grasped onto Anika's hands. "But who says your sister wants to marry the king? They don't seem to be getting along too well." He told her, not knowing what was happening in that moment.

Victoria closed her eyes, for the first time hating her sister. She turned her head, pressing her lips to the king's before she could convince herself otherwise.

"Victoria dreams of marriage." Anika breathed, her smile sad once more. "She thinks i'm a flake who see's nothing but my own reflection in anything shiny." She added. "But I see it... I hold her back from living her life, from love... from her king." Anika truly loved her sister more than anything, even when in that moment it wasn't love that Victoria felt for her.

The king's kiss was soft at first, surprised his young bride had made the first move. This lasted only a second as his long fingers slid against her slender waist, her taste so much sweeter than the scent of the roses.

"But she's a pet. Just like me." Elliot sighed. "She'll never be anything more." ice blue eyes were filled with sadness as he stared at the night sky.

Victoria turned in his arms, deepening the kiss further. She didn't know what came over her but for the moment she didn't care.

"Better a beloved pet than whatever this life is I am supposed to live." Anika breathed. "My grandmother would tell me I was born for this, that people like me have no freewill, we are just on this earth to look pretty and do our duty." Suddenly she snorted rather bitterly. "I tried many times to tell her Victoria was far more beautiful, that perhaps the fates had us confused."

The king was quickly losing control, kissing the bare skin of Victoria's slender shoulders as his fingers pulled the towel from her dark hair. Not for a second did he think his bride would cause this kind of desire in him.

Elliot laughed softly. "Or perhaps she switched you because she loved your sister more."  He teased, tapping her on the nose. "Don't look so sad, lovely. You are to be queen tomorrow. Everything you see will be yours to control."

Victoria was losing control as well. She pushed the king's shirt off his powerful shoulders, gasping as her tiny fingers brushed his warm powerful skin. This was joy on a different level. She hardly even remembered that she had a headache.

Anika's lower lip trembled for a second before a fat tear rolled down her cheek. "I don't want to control anything... I just want to be free." She whispered.

Before he could stop it, the king had unlaced Victoria's dress, his fingers brushing her exposed breasts in the darkness. It would only take him a second longer to ruin the moment however as he breathed Anika's name.

"I know what you mean." Elliot admitted sadly, stepping away from her to once again use his magic. He gathered the roses, no longer looking at her.

"It's time you left, your majesty." Victoria said quickly, tearing herself away from him. She did it quick enough to push him into the already cooling bath water.

Anika very much doubted Elliott did. She had begun to note that he looked for reasons not to be near her, hiding behind duty when he was the only person she knew in this strange new world. "Victoria will appreciate you collecting these for her." she breathed, and was quickly leaving the garden.

The king was roaring like an angry bear when he landed in the water. "You... You foul little witch!" He hissed, thinking it had been her intention to make him want her more than anything before she dumped him in the water. Of course, the real Anika would be the one to suffer for this action in the morning.

Victoria didn't sleep at all that night. The floor was hard and cold and her headache became ever worse. By morning she was extremely ill.

Elliot retreated to his hovel once he delivered the flowers. He didn't want to go to the wedding. He wasn't sure he could face that.

When Anika woke, she would find that the room was no longer the lavish, regal place it had been. It was no more than a cell, both sister's sleeping on the floor, surrounded by scuttling mice and layers of filth. Apparently the king wasn't quite over what Victoria had done the night before.

Victoria knew where they were and she knew why. She wished she could feel well enough to lift herself off the floor and away from the mouse that was chewing on the end of her hair but she couldn't force herself to. At least Anika had the cot.

Anika shrieked when she woke to find a rat crawling across her stomach. The younger sister sat up, scooting backwards until her back came against the wall, at which point a spider crawled down her shoulder, eliciting further screams of terror.

Victoria curled into a ball, holding tight to her head. "Stop it you."  "Such drama..." the mouse squeaked indignantly and crawled away. Having no intention of leaving for long.

Anika had her knees hugged up close to her chest, as though making herself as small as possible would save her from further vermin.
"Oh dear, is your new room not to you liking?" The king sneered from what would have been the door, but was now a set of iron bars.

"Where have you been?" Victoria said haughtily, forcing herself to sit up. She looked terrible, her skin whiter than usual. She was shivering. "We are hungry. I have a breakfast order." She got up and moved to the bars, ready to face off against the king.

The king continued to glare at the younger girl against the wall for some seconds longer before he looked at Victoria again. His crimson eyes seemed to soften when he met her gaze. "Then perhaps you should come with me and we can make arrangements?"

"This is no way to treat your future queen." Victoria told him, not sure why he was looking at her that way. Did he know? He couldn't possibly... "You're not winning her heart this way. I demand you send us home."

115 Re: Beginning of the end on Fri Sep 02, 2016 3:01 pm

The king shook his head at Victoria. "She will be my bride no matter how I treat her, nothing will change that. However, she needs to learn a lesson for what happens when you tease people." He added. "If you don't come with me now, neither of you are getting fed. It's as simple as that."

116 Re: Beginning of the end on Fri Sep 02, 2016 3:05 pm

"Are you daft? I'm not leaving my sister alone in here." Victoria snapped. "She comes with us. I'm not leaving her here to get sick too." She added, crossing her arms under her breasts. "You're not going to bully me. And...teasing you? My sister never even spoke to you..." She went on, trying hard to play dumb.

The king didn't even hide the fact that he had just taken a long look at Victoria's breasts before he spoke again. "Oh? You can account for who she was with whilst in the bathroom last night, can you? Were you there, little one?"
"It's fine, Tori." Anika breathed, trying to be brave. "Go and find something to eat, you look dreadful."

118 Re: Beginning of the end on Fri Sep 02, 2016 3:16 pm

"I'm not going to eat. You and I are going to have a diplomatic discussion." Victoria said, shivering even though she tried hard not to. Though it was freezing in the cell she was beginning to sweat as a fever tried to take hold. "And when we're done you are going to let my sister out of here." She added firmly.

The king bowed slightly in the infuriating way he was prone to when merely humouring Victoria. "Very well. You and I will go and have our discussion." He agreed. "But until that is done, your sister will remain here."

"It won't take long." Victoria said firmly, stepping out of the cell when he opened the door. Though she was obviously ill, she carried herself like a queen. She wasn't about to show weakness. "Let's get this over with, your highness."
