"I wanted you when you were still finding your feet in the world, is that not in itself enough?" Wesker replied, surprised to find he was gently stroking his fingers through Rebecca's hair.

Dave didn't stop howling, though he turned his head to fix his gaze on Wesker. There was a method to his madness. He'd sensed that someone else had come to their base and he was hoping for a rather large distraction. So far, it was working.

"Rebecca, you won't be need that dart gun." Wesker informed his lover without turning around. "I think young Mr. Wesker here needs to have some alone time with his supposed pain. Let us see how long he continues his howling for."

Rebecca left the gun on the desk and pressed her fingers to her temples. Perhaps that was all well and good for Wesker but she was working on a massive migraine. Dave's yelling wasn't making things any easier.

Wesker finally turned away from the cage and held a hand out to Rebecca. "Come, I believe it is time I took you out of this place building for a decent breakfast."

Though her head was still pounding, Rebecca slipped her hand into his. She again found herself floored by her lover's actions. For the second time in two days he'd shown his feelings for her in front of witnesses.

This was not lost on wesker himself, he knew it was somewhat rash of him, but lately... Rebecca seemed to simply bring out that side of him. If Dave truly was his son, then he also knew Rebecca must be having some conflicting feelings of her own.

"So what prompted the date?" Rebecca asked after they'd found a quiet restaurant and seated themselves in a back booth. The pain was down to a dull roar and the coffee she now sipped on was helping.

"What date? Are you seeing someone else?" Wesker asked with a wry smile before sipping his own coffee.

"Okay...sorry...the business meeting." Rebecca corrected, rubbing her temples as she spoke. "It's not like you to call one of these. At least not this early in the day."

"The test subject was irritating you, I could see it." Wesker replied, glancing around to make sure no one was watching them. "And... I get the feeling you have questions about... Dave? Rachel and Spencer?"

Surprising herself, Rebecca shook her head. "I learned alot more about Spencer than I ever wanted to back when Chris was in Africa. I'm fine with not knowing anything else." She admitted, though it wasn't entirely true. "Dave is a future test subject if that's what you want. I don't need to know anything else."

"And what if I said I wished to embrace the fruit of my line and teach him the family business, so to speak?" Wesker asked curiously.

Rebecca shrugged her shoulders. "This is your show, Albert. I'm just lucky enough to be along for the ride. Whatever you want to do will have to be okay with me. Won't it?"

Wesker sighed quietly and sipped his coffee again. "I remember when you used to have an opinion about things."

Rebecca wasn't good at keeping up the facade. She couldn't pretend not to want to know things about the man she loved. She knew him well enough to know that right now he was patiently waiting her out. He seemed to know enough about her to see that she was lying to him.
"All right, fine!" She said finally, unable to take any more of Wesker's pious gaze. "Tell me about Rachel. Who was she to you...aside from Spencer's daughter."

Wesker couldn't help the chuckle that escaped him as Rebecca finally broke. "Well that didn't last long." He teased. "Where would you like me to begin? How we met?" He asked calmly, even pausing to sip more of his very strong coffee.

"Start at the beginning." Rebecca took a sip of her own coffee, her bright eyes making it clear she was extremely interested in his response.

"Well, depending upon your belief system, it is either a celestial being spending seven days creating the earth, or dust swirling in space and forming a planet..." Wesker paused there, a smirk forming on his lips as he watched Rebecca.

"Albert!" Rebecca groaned, all but slapping her forehead. Though she didn't dare say so, his teasing made her happy. It meant that he was finally lowering his walls for her.

"Or...mperhaps it was the celestial being who made the dust swirl?" Wesker continued, pretending to be oblivious to what she had really meant.

Rebecca groaned again though she was grinning behind her hand. "You know what I meant, Albert." She said, trying to be firm about it. "The beginning of you and Rachel's relationship."

"Oh, we'll why didn't you say so!" Wesker exclaimed, still smirking. "Very well... I suppose in a sense, her father intended things to unfold almost exactly the way they did all along. Obviously, with the exception of her death." He began. "It was upon the completion of my time at the training facility. Spencer was suddenly there to congratulate me... This woman by his side. I was still so very young back then, and foolishly thought she was perfect, the most beautiful creature I had ever seen."

Rebecca felt her own green eyed monster rising up in her belly. She was quick to squash it however. Besides, the woman was dead. "So you pursued her?" She asked, now poking at the eggs the waitress set in front of her.

Wesker snorted quietly, then nodded his head. "She wanted nothing to do with me." He replied. "I was just another one of her father's henchmen in her eyes, beneath her in every way."

"So that made you want her even more." Rebecca went on for him. "It made you have to have her instead of just want her. Right?"

Wesker chuckled, wagging his finger at Rebecca slowely. "One would think you almost know me..." He teased. "Of course that's how it was. She was all I thought about after that, why wouldn't she even be civil to me? What was she doing when I couldn't see her? Did she ever even date at all? All kinds of questions ran through my head." He confirmed.

"So what did you do?" Rebecca asked, watching her egg as her fork pierced the yolk. It spilled over the plate like a bad murder victim. It almost made her insides churn. For a moment it reminded her of Wesker's death.

Wesker laughed quietly, staring down into his coffee. "I was barely nineteen, I did what most young men would do; tried to make her jealous. The other women in the facility couldn't keep away from me, so I used that to try and hold Rachel's interest." He paused again to wave a waitress over and have his cup refilled. "She slapped me." He chuckled. "Told me I was a rutting pig, one not worthy of her father's praise."

"But you go her somehow..." Rebecca pressed. "I mean...that much is obvious...so...what? How did you finally win her over?" She too had her coffee refilled, though her interest in it was waning.

"Lisa Trevor." Wesker confessed. "I showed her what we had been doing, and the research I had done personally. She was Spencer's daughter, and despite her apparent naively, she loved to see the experiments." He suddenly couldn't help but smile. "Lisa tried to take a bite out of her, and Rachel clung to me like a limpet."
