So slow to catch on

Jill gave Leon a little push, then smiled. "Believe me, these things can last days." She assured him. "Besides, I want the chance to grill you myself."
"You doubt my suitability as a mother?" Claire asked thinly, folding her arms across her chest.

Jill closed her eyes and took in a shuddering breath as Chris' fingers closed around her breasts. Six months was a long time to suffer the same itch, all the while knowing he was the only one who could cure it. "I could break you... Again." She finally added with a chuckle of her own.

"It'll just be you getting the good stuff." Chris teased, trying to pull her down into his lap. "It's not like I can get it up anyway."

Jill allowed Chris to pull her down into his lap, his fingers brushing his jaw lightly. "When did you last shave?" She teased, leaning closer to rub her own smooth cheek against his stubble.

"It's too much effort to shave." Chris admitted, ashamed of this fact. "I don't want to ask Leon and Claire would probably cut my throat....why? You don't like it?"

"I didn't say that." Jill replied softly, her fingers threading back through Chris' now unruly hair as she kissed his temple lightly. "you know I always like the feel of it." She added, her thoughts drifting backwards once again.

"I'd forgotten." Chris whispered, closing his eyes again as the memory of waking Jill by rubbing his stubble across her smooth belly became all but physical.

"We'll both get better again, just you wait and see." Jill breathed, silently longing for more than a brief touch from her lover. "But just sleeping beside you again is more than enough until then." She added, trying to quell her hungry desire.

Chris nodded, opening his eyes. The memory faded and for that he was glad. "Do you really forgive me for this?" He asked her as he tried to help her lay him down on the bed in his room. "It's your turn to promise."

"There's nothing to forgive." Jill replied as she carefully began removing Chris' clothing. "I was an idiot... I thought I was doing the right thing." She added, now kicking her own boots off to lay down beside Chris. "I guess blondes really are dumb, huh?"

"You know this is sort of hot." He purred, a little bit of the old Chris returning. "You know...I am pretty helpless right now....if you wanted to use me and all that..."

Jill smiled at this, her slender fingers tracing down the contours of Chris' hard chest, their destination quite obvious. "Sure you can't feel anything?" She purred. "Because I'm thinking... You just like me playing your nurse..." She teased.

Chris could feel the light touches, something that rather surprised him. Though they weren't anything substantial he also knew where her fingers had ended up. "We'll fix this." He promised, wishing he could do more than move his arms. "We'll have our time together. You'll see."

Jill sat up, gently straddling herself across Chris' hips, though she was still fully clothed herself. "All we have is time." She breathed, her expression suddenly turning serious. "Chris... Marry me." The words had surprised even Jill as they tumbled past her lips. But by no means should that be construed as her wishing she hadn't said them.

Chris laughed at this, surprised to hear this from Jill of all people. "Marriage? Are you sure? A day ago you never wanted to see me again." He couldn't help but grin like an idiot. "I told you you could never get enough of me." He teased her, not yet giving her an answer.

Jill's vulnerable sapphire eyes were searching Chris' face, trying to understand why he hadn't given her an answer one way or the other. Finally she looked away, feeling the perfect fool. "A day ago I thought you would never forgive me."

"Yeah well...the day after we get married, I'll tell you whether I did or not." Chris chuckled, answering her in the only way he knew how.

Relief flooded through Jill and she leaned down, showering Chris with kisses. "You jerk! I can't believe you kept me hanging like that!" She finally exclaimed, thumping his chest lightly.

Chris couldn't help but laugh. "I was going to hold out longer but you know me." He pulled her down and close to him, holding her as tightly as he could. "Remember that Christmas I announced I was no longer having sex with you?"

Jill laughed quietly at the memory. "Yeah, that was the longest hour of my life." She teased, squirming a little until she found her usual comfy position lay against Chris' chest.

The next day, Chris came with Jill to pick up Claire. He was smiling as she was helped into the car. "That black eye really makes the whole pregnancy thing work for you." He teased, hoping to get things going in a better direction.

"Yeah? Well you should see the night stand..." Claire replied with a tiny smile of her own. "Don't fuck with a pregnant Redfield." Despite Leon having left without so much as a word to her, Claire was doing her best to put on a brave face.

Chris nodded, pretending to have a serious expression. "I know. I've been there before. It's hell having a belly like that." He teased her, doing his best to reach back and pat her head. "Jill made fresh pic..cles...or however the hell you say it. Pickle sicles?"

Jill visibly turned up her nose at the thought of them as she pulled the car out of the parking lot.
Claire was glancing between the back of each elder persons head, not sure what to make of this. "Why is Jill even here? What happened to your 'If I ever see that bitch again, I'll shoot her my damn self!'" she replied, lowering her voice as she attempted to impersonate her brother.

"Things change, kiddo." Chris said, winking at Jill. "You of all people should be learning that one."

"Uh huh..." Claire replied, clearly not buying that. "You believe that... Until the next time you piss each other off."

"Don't get mad at Leon." Chris said after they were home and the two of them were seated on opposite ends of the couch. "He had to work. You know how he is about his job."

"Whatever." Claire replied sullenly, refusing to look away from the tv, but not really watching it. "He never even said goodbye."

"Does he ever?" Chris wanted to know. Leon hadn't gone far from them since the whole incident had happened. "I'd think he'd be in such a rush to get out of there he wouldn't bother."

"You think I'm a bother to him?" Claire asked thinly. "Leon isn't the kind of guy who just leaves. Unlike some I may mention, flowers aren't only for appologies."

"Well he told us to tell you." Chris tried to explain, knowing he was digging himself a fairly deep grave. Claire was never going to forgive him when she found out.
