For Fame and Glory

"Kusanagi." Dahlia DeAngelo was grinning from ear to ear as she flopped into the seat opposite her partner in crime. This bar was their favourite haunt when trying to relax, and she had known where to find the other woman right away. She let the word hang for a moment and waved for the attention of the bartender and gestured that she wanted a beer. Dahlia leaned back and let her arms hang over the back of her seat, though it was clear she was damn near bursting with excitement.

The woman continued to smile, knowing Rama's heart was heavy with the millennia of misdeeds he had committed all in the name of finding his Queen. Weighing it against a feather was an effort in futility. "You really wish to play this game, child? Or are you simply hope he will take you now before your Queen can take your life herself?"

Dahlia wasn't so confident. This place... it was far too familiar, like home. She worried Rama would be more powerful here if he felt it too. "Isn't it usually me being so cavalier with our lives?"

Rama said nothing, his dark lashes brushing his cheeks. At this small win Justice smiled. "Just bring him here." Rama whispered.

"Yeah. Actually." Gabbi laughed softly. "What's wrong? You seem really worried. Like there's something on your mind you're not telling me about."

The mystic saw it too, and it didn't bring her the joy she had hoped. She called forth the god of the underworld, even if the outcome was not something she wished for. All three of them could potentially be challenged by the god.

Dahlia glanced back into the restaurant, then shook her head. "No... Just a bad feeling is all." She replied with a sheepish smiled, feeling silly for putting any stock in a gut feeling she had.

Anubis appeared in the center of the room, looking rather unhappy with the sudden change in scenery.  "Who interrupts the passage of judgment?"  A feather appeared in his fingers and he turned to look at the mystic. "This is not the first time we have met, woman."

"Are you still stalling? Seriously?" Gabbi snorted, something shifting in her stomach. "Come on. Let's go get those journals. That tomb is calling my name."

The mystic shook her head, the beads on her headdress making a gentle tingling sound. "I'm surprised you remember, my lord." She breathed, bowing her head respectfully. "Although I imagine a god always remembers the one he deems unworthy of death."

Dahlia still seemed somewhat ill at ease as they searched the museum in Cairo. She was forever looking over her shoulder, as though waiting for something to simply grab her.
