Lost Legends

"It can't keep going on like this!" A young woman's voice gasped as two figures dove over a snow drift to avoid detection by passing guards. "We have been fighting for so long that no one even cares anymore!" She added, running her fingers through blue black hair that had already become brittle with the cold.
"Of course they remember, Dex." The young woman's companion replied in an annoyed whisper. "We fight for freedom from the imperial invaders who seek to make us bow down to them!"
The woman who had just been referred to as Dex rolled her grey eyes. "What does it matter who sits on the throne as high emperor? Either way, we're still left down here in the dirt." She added, poking her head up to see if the coast was clear. "The rebellion is just pushing back the tide, sooner or later the imperials will find us all, and execute us as promised."

Ulfric rubbed at his jaw slightly, surprised that twice in a matter of minutes this woman had caught him off guard. "I already told you, I cannot fix the big problems, without first fixing the small."

"Well well, what do we have here? An overgrown newt, perhaps?" The leader of the warriors sneered as Draco confronted them. "I was happy to let you float about in your pond while my men bathed, but for that..." He smiled and drew his sword. "I'm afraid that you have no right speaking to a Redguard in such a manner!"

"I am not small, Ulfric Stormcloak!" Bree shouted at him, shoving him against the tent wall. "And I am not a problem!"

Draco snorted at the sword, rolling his eyes. "Redguard...I thought you were a Dunmer. Equally stupid which ever way you look at it."

Ulfric smiled again, once more placing his hands upon Bree's hips as he spun her around, now the one pressing her to the tent wall. "Keep on saying my name like that... And I may have take you my queen." He purred.

"Razib, he has a female with him." One of the other men told the man with the sword.
The man the other had just referred to as 'Razib' smiled thinly. "Well, I guess this wasn't a totally wasted encounter after all."

Bree found herself unable to breathe. She could care less about being a queen. Right now all she truly wanted was for this man to kiss her.

Draco gave it away when he glanced over his shoulder to see how they had been able to detect his mate.

Ulfric had the desire to do just that. Despite already believing she would ram a knee into his privates, the Jarl touched his lips lightly to Bree's. He kissed her gently, not wanting her to think he was truly forcing himself on her.

Razib closed his eyes and made a show of breathing in. "ah yes... She is like a Kajiit in heat." He purred.

Ever the straightforward one, Bree returned Ulfric's kiss with wild abandon. She buried her fingers in his hair pulled him closer, desperate taste him.

Draco panicked. Transforming was his first thought but he would soon discover he was unable to do this. He'd used too much energy doing it three times that day. Not to mention he was still wounded.

It was as Ulfric lifted Bree up, his fingers sinking into her part bottom once her slender legs were around him, that her over balanced, sending them both crashing to the ground. Bree would have landed on top of the jarl, who was now laughing heartily.

The Redguard leader ordered his men to fan out and find the woman. "How like an argonian. What did you do, take your pleasure and leave the poor girl unsatisfied?" He added with a sneer.

Bree too was laughing, a sound that was rather foreign to her. She still straddled him as she removed the tent and then shook her head at him. "What am I going to do with you, Nord?" She asked him gently.

Draco was horrified to realize he was about to lose consciousness. His balance was waning and he could barely focus. Dex was about to be left on her own.

"Have your wicked way with me?" Ulfric joked, his blue eyes far brighter than they had been when he and Bree first met.

Dex had long ago stopped giggling when she heard the voices of the other men. She very much missed her armour right then, as without it all she wore was a rather thin shirt that was now clinging to her torso, and her lightweight leather pants. The young woman cursed quietly when she realised her dagger was also gone.

"It's tempting." Bree purred. She leaned over him to kiss him again when the giant thundered over to them. "Not here." He boomed. "People go home." He commanded, pointing toward Windhelm.

Draco took a step toward the first Redguard man, swaying as if he were drunk. All he could hope was that Dex could use her thieving skills well and become all but invisible to them.

Ulfric couldn't help but chuckle quietly. "I believe we have outstayed our welcome." He remarked. "I think we should head for Winterhold, the mages college there may be able to help you restore your magicks quicker."

Dex swam back out into the main body of water, able to hold her breath just long enough to reach the opposite side from where the Redguard men were. She poked her head above the water so only her eyes and nose were visible, allowing her to look for Draco, and breathe in at the same time.

"You really don't want to go back to Windhelm do you?" Bree asked, wearily pushing herself to her feet. She shivered as the cold wind cut through her. She hadn't been kidding when she'd told Ulfric she'd lost everything. She had nothing but the dagger she'd taken from a dresser and the dress and shoes Almeada had given her.

Draco was still trying to force himself into transformation. His skin was going from green to an odd shade of red and it was obvious he was wasting his own magicks far too quickly.

Ulfric removed his own cloak, and as he had done before, placed it around Bree's shoulders. "Right now... There is nothing in Windhelm for me. My, as you call it, destiny, is leading me elsewhere."

Dex was out of the water now and moving through the trees. She couldn't see Draco, but somehow she knew he was in the kind of trouble he wouldn't have found himself if not for her. She didn't exactly have a plan, but she had to do something.

"I keep telling you I don't believe in destiny." Bree told him darkly. She couldn't help but breathe in the scent of this man. It was so strong inside his heavy fur cloak. Just like he was.

"Sir..." Another of the Redguard men who'd stayed to keep a watch on the Argonian shouted to his leader. "Something's wrong with this one."

"Maybe you should." Ulfric replied with a chuckle, taking Bree's slender hands between his own in an effort to help her warm them up.

"What do you mean 'something'?" Razib growled, though he didn't really need an answer once his gaze fell upon Draco . "What the... What is wrong with it?!"

"Balderdash." Bree grumbled, chastising herself for not yanking her fingers away. She'd turned herself into a Markath whore and with a Nord no less. "Look what destiny did to my mother."

The other man was shaking his head wildly as the creature at his feet threw back his head and roared in pain. The roar shook the ground they were standing on.

"It let go on to the next life, knowing her daughter was in safe hands." Ulfric pointed out gently.

Dex paused, knowing that roar belonged to her mate. She knew Draco would wish her to evade capture, but so long as she thought him in danger, she was going to make these men focus on nothing but tracking her. "Hey! Falmer breath!" She shouted from the edge of the tree line. "You're looking for me, right?"

"I can't believe she had it in her head that you were the infamous protector." Bree sighed, shaking her head. "Whatever was she thinking? I think her illness addled her brains. No Nord wants to be saddled to a Dunmer."

All heads shot up and many of the men began moving towards her. Draco groaned from where he'd fallen completely to the ground. She just couldn't keep her mouth shut could she?

"I think you mean no Dunmer wishes to be saddled to a Nord." Ulfric corrected. "And you say we are the Bigots..."

Dex caught sight of Draco, and was relieved to see that he at least still alive. "That's right, be good little soldiers and come catch the naughty thief..." She purred, waiting for them to get a little closer before she disappeared back into the trees.

"I just...I know how our races are. They think mixing is strange." Bree explained. "I've never met a kind Nord besides...At least not until you. And I think...I think you drink too much mead."

"I will beat her to death." Draco swore, blood sliding past his lips. "I swear when I get my hands on her..." It was more because she'd been right about his transformation than anything else.

"Or perhaps you do not drink enough of it?" Ulfric replied with a grin. "All Nord s are not cruel, just as I imagine not all Dunmer are cold hearted and bad in bed." He teased.

"She foolishly risks her life for you, and that it your thanks? My, what a match." Razib mocked, kicking Draco simply because he could.
Dex had circled around the men following her, and was watching them argue about which way she went.

"I have never heard that one." Bree snorted, tucking her dagger into the pocket of her dress. "I've heard that aside from the Diabella priestesses, Dunmer woman are the best."

Draco grabbed for RAzib, jerking the Redguard man to the ground. "Who said I was talking about her?" He snarled, spraying the other man with black blood.

"You speak from experience with other Dunmer women?" Ulfric teased, helping Bree to her feet as he got back to his own. "So, we are agreed on Winterhold then?"

Razib snarled as they blood sprayed his face. "I can smell her all over you! She is all you think about!"

"Are you going to leave me alone once we get there?" Bree asked, almost afraid of what his answer would be.

"I think about eating humans and burning villages. Do you smell that too?" Draco asked, bearing his teeth.

"If you wish it, yes." Ulfric replied, though even he was no longer certain he could simply walk away. "Why do you have such a desire to be alone?"

"I smell weakness." Razib sneered. "I smell the decay of a dying beast upon you!"

"It's a long story." Bree said, kicking over what was left of the tent. She walked away from it, for a long while not even looking to see if Ulfric was following her.

"Must be the horse I ate for breakfast." Draco chuckled, probably angering the other man further.

"We have a long ride." Ulfric replied, gently nudging Bree in the direction of his horse. "And I won't take no for an answer, you are riding with me."

Razib growled at this and slammed a first into Draco's temple. "I will make you watch while my men defile your mate, then kill her!" He hissed, unaware that Dex had suffered at least half of that already; she would die before allowing it to happen again.

"That horse is..." Bree paused, nearly having to lean backward to look up at the beast. "He's enormous...And he looks rabid. I'm not about to ride on that thing."

Draco groaned at the pain now shooting through his head. He was seriously considering throwing up. "I'll enjoy seeing them try." He grunted finally.

Ulfric gave Bree little choice in the matter. Before she could stop him the kind had the Dunmer woman on the saddle with him, his powerful arms around her as he pulled on the horses reins.

"Oh, they'll more than try!" Razib promised, blissfully unaware that Dex had just killed one of his men for trying to make good on that promise.

Bree gave a frustrated growl, resting her head back against Ulfric's chest. "Be glad that you haven't chosen me as a mate, Nord. I would make your life a living hell."

Draco began to laugh. He could smell death in the air. He knew full well what his mate was capable of. She would not go easy on these men.
