So slow to catch on

Jill gave Leon a little push, then smiled. "Believe me, these things can last days." She assured him. "Besides, I want the chance to grill you myself."
"You doubt my suitability as a mother?" Claire asked thinly, folding her arms across her chest.

Claire was quick to shake her head. "Don't Chris... You said it yourself, Jill was completely at Wesker's will when you found her. What if that's what's happening to Rebecca?"

"I'm sorry Rebecca... I can't do that." Jill replied softly. "Chris would never forgive me. We want to help you... We want you back in our family." She added, unaware of the development between Chris and Claire as she spoke.

"Jill will be here to protect you as soon as I find her." Chris said, not answering this. He yanked a gun from the back of his pants and pressed it in her fingers. "Keep this until she gets here." That said, he left her in the room and headed out to find Leon and the newest members of his family.

"Fuck you." Rebecca hissed, still sobbing into her hands. "LEave me the hell alone, Jill! Just go screw Chris! We all know he's all you care about!"

Those words stung Jill, even if she knew to some extent they were true. "Rebecca... It's easy to say something like that when you've had a loving family your whole life." She told the younger woman quietly. "Chris and Claire are my family, and now so are Leon and you. Don't lash out at me for wanting to fix you. Chris never gave up on me... And I won't give up on you."

"I don't need to be fixed, damn it!" Rebecca shouted, finally turning to glare at Jill with red rimmed eyes. "You say I'm like him...but you're the one with the virus running through your veins! You're the monster here, not me!"

Jill cast her gaze past Rebecca to the rain streaming down the window. "And who do you think it was who made me a monster?" She asked quietly. "Your boyfriend did this to me, Rebecca. You think he won't one day do the same to you?" The hurt was quite clear in her eyes as they again met Rebecca's gaze, though for now Uroboros was remaining dormant.

"He's not my boyfriend. You said it yourself, he used me. Again." Rebecca leapt to her feet and shoved the table over, but it was more for her own frustration than anything else. "I get it. He's done with me! You just have to rub it in, don't you?! Oh hell yes. You had Chris when all that shit in Raccoon city was over but what did I have? Did you really care? Did anyone ever ask me what I wanted or what would make me happy?! Fuck no. I have been a pawn for every person who's ever come near me! Don't think I don't know that. I'm done. I'm done with you. I'm done with Chris. And I'm done with him! So go cry to your boyfriend and leave me alone! I'm not a pawn for you anymore! I did what you asked. I have no use anymore!"

Jill said nothing for the longest moment, simply staring down at the upturned table. No one but she and Chris knew the trouble they had had after the Raccoon City incident. They hadn't exactly had each other as Rebecca thought. Jill had felt Chris had abandoned her in the city, and at the same time Chris had felt Jill hadn't shown solidarity by joining him in Europe, then after the outbreak... Of course there had been accusations of her cheating on him with Carlos Olivera. "Are you done with your little tantrum?" Jill finally asked calmly, then grabbed hold of Rebecca's wrist. "You play the little victim well, I'm sure that's what drew both wesker and billy to you... But need I remind you that I also know you were experimenting on Sherry Birkin all these years, and lying to Claire about it?"

Rebecca glared down at the long fingers that curled around her own tiny wrist. "I did a lot more than experiment on Sherry Birkin." She purred, her tone taking on a cruel note. "I can't help it if the people who were supposed to know me and care about what I was doing didn't. Now let go of me."

"Or what?" Jill challenged, not one to take kindly to threats from people she cared about.
Rebecca wouldn't get the chance to answer that. Jill would quickly find herself hit with a force so hard it sent her sliding across the now deserted cafeteria. "Didn't your mother ever tell you it isn't right to pick on those smaller than you? Oh, that's right... You killed your mother just by coming into being." Wesker sneered from where he now stood beside Rebecca.

Rebecca couldn't help but stare up at Wesker, hope fluttering through her insides. Maybe he hadn't used her at all. Maybe he'd truly been looking for her. "Thank you." She whispered.

Wesker used his superior speed to reach Jill's side and kick her in the face, rendering her instantly unconscious before he returned to Rebecca's side. "Are you okay?" He asked, though her red rimmed eyes told him the answer to that question. He found himself lightly brushing her cheeks, wishing he had gotten here sooner.

Rebecca's lower lip trembled and she threw her arms around him. As she had before she buried her face in his chest. "Where have you been?" She breathed. "I've missed you so much."

Wesker wrapped his arms around Sheva in return and lightly kissed the top of her head. "I was looking for you, but even I couldn't track you... Until you left me those messages." He breathed. "And that's when I found out about the latest addition to the Redfield bloodline. I couldn't pass such an opportunity up... I have the twins at a safe location. We can leave right now, and you can raise them... Or test on them, I care little."

"So...you only came here for them?" Rebecca asked as she pulled away from him, blinking back a fresh wave of fat tears. "You waited and left me here...because of them?" Her voice cracked and she shook her head, feeling rather humiliated.

"No, I came here because of you." Wesker told his young lover firmly. "They were an after thought, a way of hurting Chris as he did me when he had his boys out kidnap you."

"Do you promise?" Rebecca asked, closing her eyes so that two tears slid in quick succession down her cheeks. "Please...tell me Jill was lying when she said you were using me to get to Chris. Promise me she was wrong..."

"She was wrong." Wesker told her without hesitation, a rough thumb gently wiping her tears away. "I heard what you said to her, and you were right... She cares for no one but Chris. If anything, I would use those two against each other, never you."

Rebecca nodded slowly. She knew Wesker well enough to know that if he'd been lying he'd have chosen another way to say it. "I just didn't want to be a pawn anymore."
"Goddamn cockroach." Chris snarled, the safety clicking off his gun rather loudly in the sudden silence. "You just won't fucking die. Will you?!"

Wesker smiled , suddenly holding Rebecca tightly against him, though he didn't look back at Chris. "Strange, I was thinking the very same thing about your whore." He sneered, silently debating how much it would hurt Rebecca if he pushed her out of the window right now. The ground was wet, and it was preferable to Chris losing his cool and shooting her.

"Where are the twins?" Chris snarled, his gun shaking in his hands. "That's all I want. I don't give a shit what you do to Rebecca. Just...give me the babies back."

"Just the twins? Not your own child also?" Wesker purred, unable to help himself. "Such a shame... She has those big blue Redfield eyes that people seem to like so much, and already has her mothers smart mouth." That was enough, he took the gamble and pushed Rebecca from the window, then turned to see the look on Chris' face. "Yet another innocent life you failed." He sneered.

Chris looked as if he were about to be run over by a train. Or maybe he was about to throw up. He couldn't decide which. "I...What do you mean...my own child."

"My, my... Then Jill really doesn't remember." Wesker was revelling in the look on Chris' face right then. "Jill was pregnant when she hurled herself out of that window to save your life."

The gun fell from Chris' fingers and his body began to shake. He couldn't have looked more devastated if he'd tried. "Where...Where are they?" He managed to whisper.

Wesker's arm shot out and snatched Chris by the throat, lifting him off the ground. "Who are you to demand anything of me?" He mocked. "You couldn't even keep your own offspring safe, why should it be any different for yours sister's?" that said he tossed Chris across the room, in the same direction he had thrown Jill. "Don't bother looking, you won't find them, and Ruby won't know you anyway." that said, he jumped out the window after Rebecca. At least he had bothered to name the child.

Leon took up the rear, diving after Wesker. He landed on the other man before they'd even hit the ground. He made sure Wesker took the brunt of the fall. "Give me my babies!" He howled, slamming his fist into the other man's face.

Wesker most likely outraged Leon further by merely laughing. He allowed the younger man to hit him several more times, before his head snapped forward, connecting with Leon's nose. "As I told Chris, you will never find them." He swore, thinking Leon little of a real threat as he turned his back on him to scoop Rebecca up.

Leon shoved his combat knife into the middle of Wesker's spine. Soon enough the rain was mixed with blood. "I said, give me my babies!" He screamed, pushing the knife so hard the tip protruded from Wesker's stomach.

Wesker faltered slightly, suddenly very aware he could not feel the left side of his body. "Kill me, and they die too." He warned, though his words slurred slightly. "Rebecca does not know their location, so don't get any fool ideas, boy."

"You'll tell me or I'll kill her too." Leon hissed, knowing that he now held more weight of Wesker's than he probably should have. His hair was plastered to his head but he cared very little. At the moment he saw nothing but red.
