So slow to catch on

Jill gave Leon a little push, then smiled. "Believe me, these things can last days." She assured him. "Besides, I want the chance to grill you myself."
"You doubt my suitability as a mother?" Claire asked thinly, folding her arms across her chest.

"Oh I went there alright." Claire replied. "And Oh wow, what's this..." She reached up and pretended to inspect her brothers hair. "You're going grey and your hairline's receding!"

Chris' mouth dropped open and a hurt look took over his features. "Well at least my breasts aren't sagging!"
Leon stared from sister to brother and back again. He was wondering how long Chris would go without a bloody nose.

Claire's face screwed up at this, her arms moving up slightly from where they had been folded to now conceal her breasts. "They are not!" She shot back. "They're just not ginormous like..." She stopped herself there, as for a split second she had almost forgotten Jill wasn't simply somewhere else. She was gone.

This Chris' face really did crumple. He looked as if he were truly about to cry. It took him several moments to come back from this and finally he gave his sister a weary smile. "You're stalling so I can't see Jack, aren't you?" He asked with a soft laugh.

"No, you go ahead. You were right, I should get my arm checked out." Claire told her brother softly, already moving around him. "And have them remove my foot from my mouth while I'm there..." She muttered, feeling a complete idiot.

"Like that's possible." Chris teased her, patting her shoulder as he all but pushed her aside to get to his nephew.
Leon lifted the infant up and placed him into Chris' arms. In that moment, Chris Redfield looked prouder than he ever had.

Claire hovered in the doorway, finally able to smile a little when she saw the proud look on her brother's face. This really wasnt a good week for the Redfield clan, as they moment Claire stepped into the hallway, a man grabbed her and hauled her away. It was the very same men who had tried so hard to keep her from seeing Leon.
Down in the morgue a doctor came screaming down the hall, still holding a scalpel in his hand. He had attempted the begin Jill's autopsy... Only for her to wake up and ask where she was.

Leon and Chris were none the wiser. They sat in the NICU together, arguing over the future of Jack. It seemed one of them believed him to be a policeman and the other wanted him to be a football player.

Both men would remain unaware of the predicament the women they both loved were currently in. Claire was unconscious, having been injected with something before being bundled into the van of a van and driven away. A message had been left at the nurses station, supposedly from Claire herself, and would soon be delivered to Leon. I'm sorry. I can't do this anymore. Goodbye, Leon. apparently it was supposed to keep him from coming to look for her.

Jill, meanwhile, was trying to find a way out of the hospital, wearing only a doctors coat she had found in the morgue. Chris' partner had no memory of who she was, or that the man she didn't remember loving was so very close by.

Leon believed the message without so much as a question. The moment the nurse gave it to him he did little more than sit down.
Chris had laid the baby down and gone outside. He knew his sister would fall apart sooner or later but right then? When she was needed the most?

"Excuse me... What hospital is this?" The fates weren't nearly done toying with Chris just yet, as it was Jill's trembling form that was speaking to him outside the hospital. Even without her memories, she was strong enough to follow a logical path to try and discover her identity. That path began with finding her location.

"Mercy General..." Chris muttered, not yet recognizing the voice. He was still staring down at the note in his fingers, wondering how much hell he could take before he managed to blow his own brains out. Wouldn't that please Albert Wesker to no end?

"Thank you." Jill breathed, pulling the doctors coat tighter around herself as a fine mist of rain began to fall. "One more thing, if you wouldn't mind... Where exactly is that?"

Chris' head shot up, the voice finally ringing home. "Jill!" He leaped to his feet and threw his arms around her, relief flooding through him. Not that it would last long...

Jill's entire body tensed when this stranger hugged her so tightly. It wasn't long before her defenses kicked in and she rammed her knee into Chris' privates, then punched him in the nose. "Don't you dare touch me! I don't know who Jill is, but you are obviously mistaking me for someone you know!"

Chris tumbled to the ground, all but wailing in agony. "Jill! Really?!" He managed to grunt out. "Oh god...How many times do I have to tell you...I can't...handle being...hit...there..."

"Then don't touch me, you pervert!" Jill hissed, backing away from Chris, despite him being immobilised for the time being. "And why do you keep calling me Jill?!"

"Because that's your name! Jill Valentine!" Chris ground out, thinking for a dark moment that rain would make this whole situation that much better. "Jill, what the hell are you doing? Claire's already defected, you doing the same is the last thing we need!"

"We? Who are you?!" Jill shot back. "I woke up in a morgue with someone trying to cut me open! I don't know where I am... And you keep on calling me by this Jill valentine name! Who exactly are you, and why are you being so familiar with me?!"

"I'm Chris. You know...Chris." The man said as he got to his feet, his hands were suddenly shaking violently. "I...I'm your fiancee...remember? We...I thought you were dead, Jill...they said you were dead..."

Jill's fingers reached up, touching the wound she had near her collarbone where the doctor had tried to cut her open. "How could they think I was dead?" She asked, her voice trembling. "What did they do to me?! Why don't I remember you... Or me?" her sapphire eyes were flooding with panic as they looked to Chris for answers.

"I wish I knew..." Chris breathed, pushing his fingers through hair that had grown too long. "Look...You can't deny that I seem to know who you are and at least a thing or two about you. So...will you give me a chance to prove it to you? To help you get your memory back?"

Jill hesitated, watching Chris' fingers as they moved through his hair. There was no denying how handsome this man was to her, and he really did seem to know her. "No funny business..." Ashe warned, her own way of agreeing to accept his help.

The smile that twisted Chris' lips was an old one and one he couldn't help if he was truly trying. "That's what you said the night I offered to drive you home." He chuckled. "Funny business happened and then you hit me in the nose."

Ooc: Ashe? Where did that come from? Goddamnn spellcheck!

Ic: "I did?" Jill asked, her pale blue eyes searching Chris' for any hint that he was merely feeding her a line. "You probably deserved it." She added as an after thought, hugging her arms tightly around herself. "Where we're you driving me from?"

"The police station where we worked..." Chris explained. "Come on. I have a bag of your clothes in our car. At least that way you'll be a little warmer."

"Police station?" Jill asked, rubbing at her temple, the effort of trying to remember making it throb slightly. "We... Were both police officers?"

"More than that." Chris said with a grin. "We were special officers. The best of the best. You, of course, were better than that." He told her, holding out a hand for hers.

Jill's body betrayed her wary mind as her hand slipped into the one held out to her of its own accord. It was then that a blinding pain rippled across her forehead, and she was left with the image of laying beneath this man, their uniforms strewn across what appeared to be the bell tower of a building somewhere. Her blue eyes looked up at Chris in surprise, not sure what it was she had just seen.

"What?" Chris had paused from where he was leading her to the car, in the process of removing his shirt with his free hand. He was worried she might be getting too cold out there in the night air. "Do you want me to carry you?"
