Thicker than Water

"They were bitten, not dead and buried." Wesker corrected. "I'm sorry Alex, we are not having this discussion."

"I could drive you into town if you like? Let you pick something out yourself?" The man replied, not thinking that the suit Wesker had given Sherry was the only clothing she owned.

"I'd really like that but..." Sherry opened the door a little wider and gestured to the suit she'd stuffed into the garbage bin in the corner. "That's all I have and...I might as well go naked. But..I'm not into that." She laughed sheepishly.

The young man dared to smile aswell. "I'll bet you look beautiful no matter what you wear." He told her, nervously running his fingers through his dark blond hair.

Sherry gave him a tiny smile and shook her head. "My mother used to make me wear this sailor suit and trust me, it was anything but beautiful! I was twelve for godsake!" She laughed at this, finally warming to this young man. "So...what do say? Can you get me something to wear? I promise to share the hashbrown." She added.

The young man smiled and shook his head. "No, no... That's all for you. I can hear your stomach growling from here!" He laughed. "Okay, how about I find you something to at least wear while I still take you shopping?"

Sherry raised an eyebrow at this. "You're not afraid of Wesker?" She asked. "You know he'll kill you if he were to find out."

"Then it's best he doesn't find out, right?" The man replied with a genuinely warm smile.

Sherry laughed softly at this. "I won't tell but...don't be getting any ideas about me." She informed him, taking the tray in with her. She kicked the door shut, effectively cutting off his view of the covers slipping when the edge got caught in the door.

The young man groaned quietly. It was too late not to get any ideas, but even then... He knew he never had a shot at a woman like her any way. Beautiful women never fell for nice guys.

Sherry all but devoured the food, drinking both the coffee and the orange juice. When she was done she sat on the bed and waited to pass out. At least this time she wouldn't hit her head on anything.

The young man had returned, though he was pacing nervously outside Sherry's door, having found that scrubs were the only thing that wouldn't entirely swamp her lithe frame. He was muttering quietly to himself, clearly rehearsing what he was going to say when he knocked on the door.

When Sherry heard the young man she opened the door, again gripping the covers around her. "Any luck?" She asked hopefully, still worried she was going to pass out.

The man jumped, having clearly not rehearsed anything for this kind of event. "Oh... Uhm... Well, these were all I could find, that would fall right off you. Sorry." He told her, handing over the shapeless scrubs.

"So you want my clothes to fall of then?" Sherry teased him, taking the clothes with a free hand.

"I... Oh no... I meant not, NOT fall off... Oh man..." The young man was falling over his words again and again as his cheeks flamed red. "I'm sorry... I'll just go away now..."

"No. Just stay right there." Sherry instructed with a smile, shutting the door on him yet again. Once she was dressed she looked at herself in the mirror. Not for the first time she found herself wondering if maybe her mother would have been proud if she'd become a doctor like her.

The young man groaned, and leaned forward with his head against the door, probably not a wise move. He didn't know why taking to this woman was so difficult for him.

Sherry jerked open the door, a strange habit she'd had since Raccoon city. She wasn't prepared for the man to be leaning against it. She certainly wasn't prepared for them both to tumble to the floor with him on top.

Unfortunately, the man landed with his face buried against the fabric that covered sherry's breasts. For the longest time he didn't say anything, not even moving, as though he was waiting for something to come along and smite him for his stupidity.

Sherry erupted into laughter. She'd never been in a situation like this before. This was something entirely new to her. "Get off!" She wailed suddenly, barely able to speak through the giggles. "I'm going to wet myself!"

The man was quickly trying to scramble away, his cheeks redder than before. "I'm so sorry! I'm a total klutz... Here, let me help you..." He got to his feet, attempting to reach down to help Sherry to her's, instead he managed to prove her breast instead, which served to make him turn practically purple with embarrassment.

Sherry laughed that much harder. Soon she was on her side, pressing her fingers between her legs. "Oh my god I'm not going to make it!" She wailed.

The man had to turn his face away, closing his eyes when he saw Sherry holding herself as she laughed. Since the moment he had first seen her... He wanted to touch her, to taste her in a way he knew was inappropriate. "I'm sorry!" He wailed again.

Sherry was quick to make a dash for the bathroom. She slammed the door and in a moment she was back, breathless but feeling much better. "You know...I don't even know your name."

"Steve." The young man replied, finally able to smile again as he offered his hand out to Sherry.

"Sherry." The young woman returned, shaking his hand. "Come on then, Steve. We should get out of here while we still can."

Steven ran his fingers through his hair, unable to help the feeling that he wasn't always this clumsy around women. Of course, that would mean him remembering. He couldn't do that, he didn't wish to angry Wesker any more than he already was by befriending Sherry. "Hey, if you like, I can get you lunch too, seeing as your stomach is still growling." He teased gently.

"Sounds great." Sherry confessed. She felt comfortable around this man for some reason. It was nice to have a friend. Sherry hadn't had a friend since Violet. And before her there had only ever been Claire.
A small part of her wondered what Wesker was off doing. But the rest of her was fully in the moment, allowing her to forget her fate.

Steven was showing Sherry around town as much as he was letting her find some clothing to wear. He was pointing out things he thought she may have found weird, or maybe even funny.

Sherry discovered that she liked seeing the sights. No one had ever offered to show her things before. But now she was standing inside a clothing store with Steve, shaking her head. "He'll know if you use his card. Then it will all be for nothing. I'm not going to risk it."
