Thicker than Water

"They were bitten, not dead and buried." Wesker corrected. "I'm sorry Alex, we are not having this discussion."

"Not if I kill her first you won't!" Wesker snarled, his hatred for the Redfield bloodlines renewed. "And oh, how I will make that girl suffer!"

"You'll have to go through me first." Alex hissed, wiping off the blood from his nose with the back of his wrist. "I'm not afraid of you, Albert Wesker. And I never will be, no matter what you do!"

Wesker smiled and turned away. "I have many who will do my bidding. I need not even leave the building to make her suffer."

"You can try." Alex said, his voice dark and commanding, the same as his father's. "But I seriously doubt you'll get past Chris again."
Jake groaned inwardly and began slinking toward the door. Wesker had missed the part where Chris and Violet had passed the cameras together. It was obvious his son had not made the same mistake.

"Chris?" Wesker scoffed as he turned to face his son again. "Why would I involve him of all people in your pathetic little obsession with the girl?" He sneered, not for even a second considering that Violet had somehow found her way back to her biological parents.

"It's a little late for that." Alex said with a widening smile that revealed blood covered teeth. He was laughing now as he moved closer to his father. "Once again the great Albert Wesker has turned out to be the true failure."

Wesker shoved the boy aside to check the security feed from the hospital. Lo and behold, there she was. Oddly, though, the tall man smiled. He tapped the ear piece he always wore to connect to his most trusted operative: HUNK. "Deploy the package. I want the neo Nemesis at Chris Redfield's location. Let him understand what it is his shapely lover truly fears..."

"NO!" Alex didn't know what it was that Wesker was saying but he knew it could mean nothing good for any of the people he loved.

"What's the matter?" Wesker asked with a sardonic smile. "I thought you could stop anything I planned to do?"

This time it was Alex on the attack. Wesker would find himself the one to slide across the room, left with an aching wound in his side where the boy had punched him.
Thinking the other man was down, Alex turned to run. He'd get there and fight that thing for himself. His family...all of them...needed him.

Wesker was laughing as he sat up, but didn't get to his feet. He had Alex's blood, and more than enough DNA samples, meaning the boy had no further use to him. He even gave the order that none of the security teams were to engage the boy in his escape. That done, he glanced over to where Sophie lay, finally noticing that his trusted assistant was also missing.

Jake had left a note, beside the supplies he'd taken. He didn't know whether he'd need a rocket launcher or not, but he certainly wasn't going to take any chances after what he'd seen of the Redfields.
He hadn't thought to put enough serum in Sherry's line and slowly the dark haired woman was starting to wake up.

The whole room had been plunged into darkness, and Wesker simply sat at his workstation, staring at the only light source; the security monitors. Hs chin was resting on top of his clenched fists, elbows proped on the desk. He was clearly deep in thought, or maybe it was regret. Either way... He didn't notice Sherry stir.

"You're...letting him leave?" Sherry asked as she seated herself on the edge of his desk, her eyes fixed on the screen where Alex was starting the preparations for helicopter flight.

"He won't survive long enough to be a bother." Wesker replied darkly. "And if he does find that monstrous girl... The Nemesis will devour them both."

"You regret that he's leaving, don't you?" Sherry asked, judging by the tilt of Wesker's head something she had never seen in her own father.

"I regret that his mind has already been poisoned by that do gooder bullshit." Wesker snorted. "He's a child, and already thinks the only way to be somebody is to be the hero and save the girl."

Sherry folded her legs beneath her and sighed softly. "It's better to be dead than to be someone." She admitted. "What's the point of being either loved or hated? Maybe it's best just to...to not be anyone at all."

"Were you happy, being 'Miss Sophie'?" Wesker asked, finally looking at Sherry. "You could very well be the key to the next stage of human evolution, our very own Eve. Would you still rather be nobody?"

'Miss Sophie' laughed softly at this. "I hardly think of myself as any sort of Eve." She answered, her eyes sweeping over Wesker's face. All she could really see was her reflection in his dark glasses. "Compared to Jill and Violet...I'm more of the reject Eve than anything else. Besides, being someone means nothing. It didn't help you, or my parents. They are dead and you...you're alone."

"Jill was a failure, and Violet... She's unstable. She may have been born with the virus, but that by no means makes her a viable subject. If she truly loses control... She could infect someone with no more than a kiss." Wesker replied, unable to help himself as he reached out and brushed Sherry's hair gently behind her ear when it obscured her face slightly. "You are alone too, who is there to help you?" He asked. Though Sherry couldn't see it, Wesker's snake eyes were holding her own gaze steadily, thinking back to the delicious taste of her smooth skin.

"I've heard you tell my mother plenty of times that you never needed anyone else." Sherry whispered, not sure why she suddenly felt so exposed. She was fully dressed and yet she felt that she was laid bare on the desk before this man. "If you don't need anyone else, Mr. Wesker....why should I?"

"You mother was a fool... Always making an idiot of herself, throwing herself before me." Wesker remarked, his hands resting on Sherry's knees, his chair positioned directly before her now. "But you..." His hands slid slowly upwards, though this time he was certainly no predator wishing to steal what the young woman didn't want to give. "Are truly spectacular."

Sherry couldn't help but laugh at this. "I think you are blind." She said softly, her own fingers hovering over his. "With those dark glasses its impossible to see me as I truly am."

Wesker lifted a hand up to remove the glasses in question. "No, still beautiful." He told Sherry with a smile that few people ever saw.

Sherry's fingers moved and were soon sliding along Wesker's face and up into his hair. "I was so afraid of you when I was a little girl." She whispered. "Even more afraid of you than my own father." She paused and smiled. "I don't know what I was thinking."

Wesker couldn't help himself as he laughed quietly. "I don't know if that is a compliment or not, given what you father turned out to be." He mused.

Sherry's fingers withdrew and for a long moment she was quite. "I don't miss him." She confessed. "I don't miss anything about my old life. I...I kind of like the person I've become and you know what? I don't give a damn who likes me or doesn't. My mother was so caught up in how you felt for her that she missed what was right in front of her. I hope you're not the same way, Mr. Wesker."

Wesker eyes were fixed on Sherry's torso, not because he was leering at her, that was simply what was at eye level from where he sat. His gloved fingers rested upon her tiny waist where the fabric of suit he had made her wear clung to her. "You will find I care very little for what people think of me." He finally assured the young woman. "Not even my son."

"You're not as good a liar as you think you are." Sherry informed him. It was her turn to reach out and catch his chin, forcing him to look at eyes that were no longer grey but an off mixture of blue and yellow. "You care very much what Alex thinks of you. Otherwise, that boy would be laying dead on the floor."
