Precious memories

Wesker had gotten Rebecca back to the safety of the tiny facility where he had taken Claire and Leon's newborn children, it was also the place that Chris and Jill's dark haired daughter currently called home. However, for now wesker had left all three children in the care of someone else, his attention solely on easing Rebecca's pain and meding the wound he himself had given her.

The doctor simply smiled, silently saying 'I told you so'.

Wesker was at the hospital not long after that conversation ended. He was looking down at Ruby's body. The nurse had administered the drug like he had instructed, and the young woman truly did seem to be dead. Even her usually full pink lips were now blue and cold.

Rebecca was still in her own room, spending most of her time wretching into the toilet in her bathroom and sobbing when she was done. She was so exhausted already that she barely had the ability to lift her head.

Ruby's body was inside wesker transport, like some monstrous sleeping beauty. Wesker had returned indoors and was in Rebecca's room, able to hear her wretching. "Why did you want to see me?' He asked her, fighting every desire that told him to run to her, to be her strength when she clearly had none.

"I wanted...to tell you stuff..." Rebecca moaned, pausing to wretch all over again. "The first...I didn't...I wasn't in my right mind...that nurse gave me Haldol. I wasn't making sense....Albert, please. I need you to believe me..." She paused again, this time to allow herself to simply fall backward onto the floor.

"Those thoughts must have been there to begin with." Wesker replied, moving a little closer. "You wanted to tell me something about the baby." He added, straight to the point as always.

Rebecca closed her eyes, unable to stop the warm tears that slid down her cheeks and pooled behind her head. "I don't even remember what I said...how can I explain myself when I don't know what I said?" She asked, her hand resting protectively across her stomach. "Albert...please...I gave you another chance...can't you do the same for me?" She wouldn't tell him about the baby. Not until she was sure she could protect it to the best of her abilities. She was glad the doctors hadn't seen anything before she had. That meant it wouldn't be on file. And if Wesker left her here...
"Albert, please....I'll do anything...let me prove myself..." She breathed, knowing she was probably pushing her luck.

Wesker faltered the moment he saw Rebecca's tears. "I loved you, Rebecca. I was ready to ask you something I had never asked another woman before..." He breathed, though he was already knelt at her side. "You made me feel... Like that was the biggest mistake I ever made..."

"Albert...you have to know that I would never do that to you. I didn't know what I was saying. I'm sure it wasn't at all what I'd meant it to be. Albert, please...I'll do whatever you ask. I just...I can't lose you." The tears were coming faster now and she knew was again in danger of falling apart. "I love you. Please believe me."

Wesker was silent for some moments, though he was already giving in. "I know about the baby, Rebecca." He told her quietly. "You know you can't hide things like that from me, especially not if I am going to take care of you."

Rebecca's lower lip trembled violently and she gave a sob of relief. Her whole body finally sagged and she again allowed her eyes to close. "We're having a boy." She whispered. "But he's...his intestines are already growing outside his body...his arm...it isn't forming right...I'm so sorry. All of this...it's my fault."

"It couldn't possibly be your fault." Wesker assured her as he scooped Rebecca up into his arms. "It is most likely caused by the remnants of the virus that we're in my blood, even when I was human."

Rebecca threw her arms around Wesker's neck the moment she was able. That done she pressed her face against his cold skin and sobbed until the last of her energy had left her. "Home." She breathed. "I want to go home."

"Are you sure about that? I have some... Work, the sort of thing you won't approve of." Wesker replied, not sure how she would react to knowing he had Ruby's body in his van.

"Albert...please?" Rebecca begged, not really caring what he had planned. "I don't want to be alone anymore. Please?"

"No judging, agreed?" He asked as he carried her from the room. "So... A boy. Have you thought about names at all?"

"I can't haven't really had time." Rebecca sniffled, wishing she had thought of something. "I'm not sure I even want to." She admitted.

"Verywell, for now he shall be... Junior." Wesker told her, the ghost of a smile pulling at his lips.

Rebecca laughed softly and shook her head. "I always hated it when people named their kids that." She said dryly, resting her head on his shoulder. "Thank you, Albert." She breathed.

"My name choosing ability isn't all bad, what about Ruby?" He asked with a smirk. "But don't worry, we shall think of something that suits our son very well." he added, as always, not very good at accepting thanks from anyone. Not even Rebecca.

"Oh for heaven's sake." Rebecca groaned, glad that Wesker had given her something else to think of. "My brain already hurts. I don't want to think about things like names. I can barely remember mine."

"That's alright, Rhonda, I'll always remember your name." Wesker teased as they stepped outside.

Rebecca couldn't help but laugh at this. But after that, she remembered very little until the next morning when she woke in the bed she and her lover had been sharing before the newest nightmare had begun.
Feeling better than she had in a while she hoped out of the bed and moved to the door, humming to herself. She might make it through this.

Wesker had allowed Rebecca to sleep as long as she had needed, as it had given him time to move Ruby's body back into the building. This time she was kept downstairs with all the other monsters.

"Albert?" Rebecca wondered if this was the way the dead felt when they'd shambled into a room, looking for someone to munch on. She was seriously considering eating at least a horse right then. Her nausea was gone only to be replaced by a feeling akin to starvation.

Wesker came running at the sound of Rebecca's voice, thinking there was something else wrong with the baby. "What is it? Are you in pain? You shouldn't be out of bed!"

Rebecca was surprised to see just how quickly Wesker had come. It wasn't like him at all. "Everything is okay." She said gently. "I was just wondering if we had something to eat."

"Of course, I had one of the lab technicians restock the kitchen for you." He assured Rebecca, gently trying to steer her away from the direction of his work space. "What is it you would like? I'm fairly certain we have everything..."

Rebecca was trying to peer over his arm as she was led away toward the kitchen. She was feeling a bit like she was missing out on something. "I...uhm..." She caught a flash of dark hair as he steered her out of the room completely. "I was...wanting a steak." She said finally, not sure she truly wanted to know who the dark hair belonged to.

"We certainly have steak." Wesker assured his lover, thinking it probably best if he didn't let her even on the same floor as ruby. He planned to use the girl to fix whatever was wrong with his son.

"I don't even care if it's cooked." Rebecca admitted, her stomach growling loudly in the quietness of the lab.
