Love and War

"I swear to even the Asari goddess that when I get out of here, that lizard Kandros will wish I was an exile for what I'm gonna do to him!" Quinn Talos raged as she was unceremoniously shoved into a holding cell on the operations deck. The dark haired woman paced for time, thinking it was would all be straightened out once Tann got wind of what Kandros had done. She should have known better. As far as she believed, human's still weren't exactly favourites of the other alien species. On earth Quinn had an excellent service record within the Alliance, just as most members of her family did, but she had wanted more. She wanted to explore, to see things no human ever had, which was why she signed up for a place on the Andromeda Initiative. The only problem was, she wasn't the pathfinder, and her superiors didn't believe in security personal leaving the Nexus. As well as she performed her job, the call sign 'Cutie', thanks to her unfortunate initials, meant she wasn't exactly taken seriously. Quinn was slumped on the floor with her back against the wall now, glaring at the Turian guard outside the forcefield. She had fought her hardest for the safety of everyone on the Nexus, and this was her reward; being called a traitor and about to be dumped on some godforsaken planet with the rest of the exile scum. All because Kandros feared losing what little power he had to her. The asshole can keep it, she thought bitterly.

Quinn had been trying to calm her sister down when the other kett showed himself. "You!" She hissed, her own eyes filled with a renewed anger. "This is all your fault!" She punched the alien before he could stop her, even if it did hurt her hand it sure felt good. "You kidnapped me, you stole my armour, and now they're looking for you!"

"I told you they were." Tyros said calmly,  simply watching Maggie gasping for every breath. "You had humans looking for you too. One called Ardwin was talking about using your flesh as armor. It doesn't sound like you were doing much better."

"I can handle Ardwin." Quinn replied defensively. "They think I'm your partner or something! " She added, on her feet and shoving Tyros roughly. "Stay the hell away from me, and my sister! This is all your fault!" Quinn didn't cope well with her sibling being in peril.

Maggie's body hit the floor moments before Tyros did. Unlike him, however,  she did not get up.

"MAGGIE!" Quinn was suddenly in a blind panic as she leaned over her sister, shaking her in a childish effort to wake her up. "She needs her medicine..." She was whispering it to herself, looking round the room for anything the kett may have taken from Maggie when they brought her here.

"I have the ship she came in. Will that help?" Tyros asked, already gathering the elder sister into his arms. "I cloaked it and hid it quite a way from here. But if we hurry..."

Quinn knew she had little choice, but she was suspicious all the same. "What will it cost me this time, the rest of my clothes?" She asked, though was already heading for the door.

"While the idea is indeed enticing..." Tyros didn't get to finish. The Archon had seen them and was now barking orders for them to be chased down and taken apart.

"Shit..." Quinn felt like the entire galaxy was simply against her. "Get Maggie to the shuttle and get her medicine. Do that and forget anything else!" She insisted, clearly prepared to die to save her elder sibling.

"I'd rather give them this broken worthless thing." Tyros snapped, tossing Maggie over his shoulder like she was little more than a bag of flour. "It's you I want."

Quinn stopped in her search for a weapon and looked at Tyros with a confused expression. "You already have my armour, that's the only thing of value about me, trust me on that."

"I may be nothing but a kett but I know worth when I see it." Tyros breathed, reaching out to touch Quinn's cheek. "Who made you feel this way? Was it this one?"

Quinn didn't look at her sister, her eyes were fixed on the alien watching her. "No. It was definitely not my sister. There's a lot your kind could never understand." she breathed.

Tyros nodded. "Come. We need to find a safer place. The kett are getting closer. To save your sister you need to remain alive." 
"Kandros..." Maggie managed to summon a breath, using it to  out for her lover.

The fact that even after everything she did and sacrificed for Maggie, the elder girl still called for the turian, well... it hurt. "Just get her to the shuttle. No more questions." Quinn breathed as she moved on ahead.

"Do they call you Kandros? I didn't see anything about that in the files when I searched for you." Tyros said once they were on the shuttle. "Why did your sister end up here? Did the kett seriously threaten you with her?"

"You searched for me?" Quinn asked as she tore round the shuttle looking for Maggie's medication, purposefully avoiding any talk of Kandros. How was she to know he was already on his way down here?

"I was worried about you. I've told you before you and i need each other." Tyros told her, trying to make a show of looking over the minitors in front of him.

Something suddenly came flying from the back of the shuttle, narrowing missing Tyros's head. "I don't need anyone." She told him firmly.

"If it makes you feel better." Tyros growled, shoving to his feet. "Sooner or later you will realize you need someone. I just hope it's not too late."
"There!" One other kett shouted. "They are in there!"

"I spent my life keeping my sister alive, literally... and yet here I am, on this shit hole rock as thanks for it!" Quinn growled, though it wasn't Maggie she was angry with, it was still Kandros. He had swept in, nearly gotten Maggie killed, and it was still him she called for when the blonde was in pain. The younger sister felt a little better now she had a gun in her hand and was shooting the approaching kett out the shuttle's cargo door.

"Then why not allow me to take you away?" Tyros asked. "What must I do to prove that I am not like the ohers?"

"Don't you get it? I was glad to finally be alone! I may have been on this asshole of a planet, but I could do whatever I wanted!" Quinn growled over her shoulder. "You ruined everything! I was doing just fine until you kidnapped me!"

Tyros was silent until a heavy sigh escaped him. "You were about to be controlled by the worst pirate on the planet. Tell me again how you were going to be fine." He muttered.

"I'd lost the idiot once already." Quinn replied thinly. "Trust me, pretty boy's nose ain't so pretty anymore either." She added with a grin, thinking about all the blood that had gushed from Ardwin's nose. "Besides... He has no idea what I look like without my helmet on."

"Is that so?" Tyros asked, cocking his head to the side. "Is that how he knew exactly who your father was and how to find your sister?"
The Archon' s voice came across the shuttle's speakers, filling it with a wicked sound. "Give the broken kett to me and I will forget I'm planning to kill you, humans. At least for now."

Quinn came stomping across the tiny shuttle, leaning past Tyros to slam a hand down on the comm button. "Sure, and you'll give me a puppy too, right?" She sneered. "No deal."

"You will regret that!" The Archon roared the speakers going silent again. 
"Have to lost your mind?" Tyros asked her, shaking his head. "He was givinv you a chance at freedom. Why did[size=38]nt you take it?"[/size]

"Human's aren't very good at taking ultimatums." Quinn snorted. "And you're welcome, by the way. I just saved your ass... or marked it for death. Not sure which."

"That makes no sense. You want nothing to do with me and yet you saved me. Why not just hand me over to him and be done with it?" Tyros asked, his strange eyes meeting hers. "You male no sense to me, human."
