"I wanted you when you were still finding your feet in the world, is that not in itself enough?" Wesker replied, surprised to find he was gently stroking his fingers through Rebecca's hair.

"I'm sorry, sir. But that is...classified." Jackie told him bravely. This was followed by a deep chuckle that came from somewhere else.
Rebecca was finally beginning to stir, Wesker's change in voice rousing her.

"I see." Wesker replied calmly, though his tone was far from polite. "And by classified, do you really mean you are committing suicide?"

Rebecca grabbed for her phone the moment she was able to process Wesker's words. "Jackie...don't touch that..." The explosion was loud enough in her ear, but louder physically as the floor beneath them rocked with the force.
"Damn it!" Rebecca snarled, tossing her phone at the wall and throwing herself out of the bed. "Albert, I swear..."

"Swear what?" Wesker asked thinly. "That you are keeping me out of the loop on something?" He added, already pulling his shirt back on.

Rebecca found the shirt she'd been reaching for suddenly out of her reach. She stood speechless, staring at Wesker as he pulled the shirt over molded muscles. Her mouth was suddenly watering. Never mind the lab explosion or the blaring fire alarm.

Wesker rolled his powerful shoulders slightly, feeling entirely too tense when he believed he was in the dark about something. "Who is Jackie?" He asked at last.

"Jack..." Rebecca felt lightheaded and not to her credit, she found herself giggling. Finally she shook her head and cleared her throat, fixing her gaze on her closet. "Jackie...the lab assistant. Don't you read your employee files?" She finally managed to mutter.

"Not unless they are particularly brilliant." Wesker replied, thinking Rebecca had been giggling like a school girl because she was thinking of this lab assistant.

Rebecca shook her head at this, now hunting through her closet for something decent to wear. "That little dipshit probably ruined the entire line of samples." She growled to herself, yanking a tight pair of black pants over her slender hips.

Wesker was watching Rebecca as she moved, wondering if the wiggle of her pert bottom as she pulled the tight fitting clothing on was for his benefit, or merely how she always dressed. Either way, he could have watched it all day. "Uroboros samples, or work on recreating the T virus?"

"Apparently nothing now!" Rebecca shouted into a line of clothes, her voice muffled. She was completely unaware that Wesker was even watching her. "I can't do anything right! It pisses me off!"

"Maybe things wouldn't go... Awry, if I was kept informed, thus able to help?" Wesker replied, his voice an amusing combination of irritation... And arrousal.

"How can I keep you informed when you're busy avoiding me?" Rebecca demanded, tossing aside her bra when it became too much from her frazzled mind to deal with right then. "I've sent you e-mails. It's not my fault if you don't read them."

"You kept sending me emailing with pictures of cats hiding in things..." Wesker muttered, his eyes following her bra. "How can I be blamed if I stopped reading them?"

Rebecca could not hide her sheepish smile or her deepening blush. "It's a cult following. I can't help myself." She murmured, brushing her fingers through her hair.

"Cats don't even like cheeseburgers... Why would they want them?" Wesker muttered, now seeking out his boots now.

"You've just never had one." Rebecca said gently, handing him his boots. Her fingers brushed his as he took them from her and she smiled. "Thank you for last night, Albert. I really have missed you."

Wesker frowned slightly. "You make it sound like I was doing you a favour... Or you were paying me." He mused with a smirk that had been absent all these months.

Rebecca couldn't help but laugh as she stood on tiptoe and pressed her lips to his. "You were doing me a favor." She purred. "Now come on before they burn down another lab and leave us homeless."

"It wouldn't be the first time... Or fourth..." Wesker replied as he followed Rebecca out into the hallway. Little was said on the way to the lab, but it wasn't awkward. The both of them seemed to be somewhat apprehensive about what they would find down there.

Jackie was lying on the floor in the hallway, his face covered with soot and his eyebrows gone. If it weren't for the seriousness of things, Rebecca would have started laughing.

Wesker, however, prodded him with the toe of his boot. "Still find him attractive?" He snorted, then passed the younger man by.

"I didn't know I did." Rebecca retorted, tossing Jackie a first aid kit as she followed Wesker into the burning lab. "Goddamn it!" She shouted once she saw just how much had been ruined. "You stupid asshole!" Anger got the better of her and she grabbed a burnt syringe from a nearby table. Never mind that it burned her hand. She was going to inject Jackie with whatever was still inside. No matter what it was.

Wesker caught Rebecca's wrist and squeezed just hard enough to force her to drop the syringe. "See what you did? You hurt yourself in anger." He remarked calmly as he opened up her palm to inspect the burn. "He is suffering, and for now that is enough, is it not?"

"No. It's not." Rebecca hissed, trying to pull back her hand. "That was six months worth of work right there! That bastard just...fucked it all up!"
"It wasn't me!" Jackie howled, struggling to his feet. "It was that guy...He was nosing around...I tried to tell him to stop. He wouldn't listen."

"What guy?" Wesker asked, mentally running through a list of candidates. Of course, he couldn't suspect someone he had never had any personal dealings with...

"He called himself Dave." Jackie grunted, sliding down the wall. He sat hard on the ground and grunted. "Said he was a new hire. He told me Ms. Chambers was the one who told him to come in but that she was with someone and couldn't let him in. He told me you told him to come here." He finished, glaring accusingly at Rebecca.

"Dave?" Wesker echoed, glancing to Rebecca, then back to Jackie. "He must still be in the building. He could even be on this floor stillm admiring his handy work..."

Jackie didn't answer. Not even when Rebecca glared at him. "I didn't hire anyone. I leave all that to you." She told Wesker as she grabbed for a fire extinguisher.

"Really? I don't remember hiring that little fuckwit." Wesker commented as he gestured to Jackie. "You control the fire, I will hunt this 'Dave' down."
