"I wanted you when you were still finding your feet in the world, is that not in itself enough?" Wesker replied, surprised to find he was gently stroking his fingers through Rebecca's hair.

Dave didn't hide the shocked look that spread over his face. It was the last thing he'd expected the other man to do. And just for that...he kicked the Audi again, this time leaving an extremely deep dent. He had little time to enjoy it as he crumpled to the floor.

It was some hours later, and Rebecca still hadn't returned. Wesker couldn't get through to her phone either. It was certainly beginning to worry him, given that Dave claimed she had been taken.

Dave woke with a start, again finding himself in a place he didn't recognize. He reached up to rub at his shoulder, the place where Wesker had shoved in the needle was beginning to swell badly.

"Perhaps now you shall be a little more forthcoming." Wesker told Dave calmly. "How did you know Rebecca had been snatched?"

"Because I told the dude where you were." Dave grunted, still rubbing at his shoulder. "I made him a deal. He let me out, I told him where to find her. Weirdest thing...he was actually looking for her and not you."

"Did you know him?" Wesker asked, pacing in front of Dave's cage. "As I find it hard to believe anyone other than the BSAA even begin to understand Rebecca's value."

"He wasn't BSAA. He was a government agent." Dave said matter of factly. He took his shirt off and inspected the bruise, surprised to find patches of his chest and arms were inky black.

Having the government sniffing around troubled wesker far more than the BSAA, after all... It was essentially the government who had finally shut umbrella down. Right then however, he was distracted by the way Uroboros was presenting itself within Dave's physiology. "Does it hurt?"

Dave turned his head, giving Wesker a defiant look. He wasn't about to answer that question. It didn't matter if he did or didn't, he was determined that Wesker would never know.

"I'll take that as a yes." Wesker remarked, seemingly threatening any bravado Dave may have had. "Did I tell you how much it hurt Jill valentine?" He asked suddenly. "Oh she tried to hide it... But the things I did to her... She was begging for death long after she even forgot who Chris Redfield was."

"She never forgot." Dave said passionately. It was clear he truly romanticized Chris and Jill. "You're the one who forgot."

"You really believe that?" Wesker mocked. "Why, she even forgot they had a child." He added darkly. "Albeit, one Chris never knew about, and never will. The tiny life survived Jill's apparent fall to her demise... And I deemed it nessecary to relieve her of any responsibility."

"What happened to it?" Dave asked, forgetting everything else for the moment as his attention locked on Wesker's words.

Wesker simply smiled at Dave. "To tell you would be to tell Chris, eventually." He replied. "I can already imagine the awkward conversation they've had... Of Jill telling family man Chris that she can never have children... Not any more, any way."

Dave was beginning to breathe fast, his chest contracting painfully. More of the inky black patches were appearing, one of them on his stomach. He could no longer deny the pain though he refused to scream. He would not let Wesker have that satisfaction.

Wesker was a patient man. He continued to watch Dave, yellow eyes all but daring him to resist the pain. He could see the black spreading, and already knew this was different than what had happened with Excella.

Oddly enough, Dave began to laugh. It was a husky thing that sounded like it came from deep within his chest. The more he hurt the harder he laughed, never knowing that his unwanted father had once done the same thing.
He laughed for several hours before he finally lay still, the monitors warning that the young man was dead.

Wesker was close by one of the monitors, simply staring at it. He was thinking about his own death, of the moments after he was reborn and had to fight for his own survival. The bio monsters hadn't cared he was one of them, they had attacked regardless.

When Dave woke again, he took in a shuddering breath. "That son of a..." He sat up and looked around, scowling deeply. "Where the hell are you?"

Wesker wasn't around, and the door to Dave's 'cage' was open. On the floor was a combat knife, and a clean change of clothes. Wesker intentions were unclear at this point.

Dave spent several moments inspecting his body for signs of the black spots. To his surprise, he found nothing. After a while he put on the clean clothes. He left the knife where it was though it was obvious he struggled with this decision.
That done he made his way out to the hall, finding that the lab was once again empty.

It wasn't just empty, the building was deserted. Wesker nowhere to be seen, or heard, and it looked like something had tore its way through the building. With Rebecca missing, it seemed the elder man cared little for the lives of his employees.

Dave was relieved not to have to run into Wesker again. He was disappointed that the only car left was the Mercedes. However, it would have to do. Soon he was peeling out of the deserted building and heading toward where he last remembered the BSAA office to be.

It had been almost too easy. A direct link to the BSAA would easily give him the means of finding Chris, a starting point for locating Rebecca.
