Scavengers

First topic message reminder :

"This is the idea of you two explaining to me why a Primarch and a grease monkey are so closey with each other." A voice remarked from the other side if the room, apparently having been there the entire time.

Ceres murmured something that sounded like a protest, until the vibration of the metal being cut sent pain rocketing through her and she passed out cold.
"I'll get a message to her, but she may already be too far to get back in time." The doctor breathed, giving Ceres something that would keep her unconscious, and free from pain for now.

"He who?" Victus pressed gently. "Not all Turian's are the same, just as not all humans are bullies, little one." He added. "Why don't you just come talk to me, you'll see the difference."

This was now one of several kisses that Brutal had stolen from the young woman, but it was the first to make her chest swell and the rest of the room melt away. The tender taste of his lips brought tears to Ceres' eyes and she gasped softly against his lips, small fingers having grasped his own.

"Don't call me that!" Lolly's scream shook the room, sending more of the broken items tumbling to the floor around him. "Go away! You hear me!" A burst of biotic power slammed into the wall next to him, missing him by mere inches. 

The gasp had Brutal fighting to control himself. It was everything he could do to simply pull away from her and rest his forehead against her own. "You see?" He whispered softly. "Not everyone thinks you are worthless." He laughed softly, still holding onto her fingers.

Victus somehow remained calm, barely flinching when the biotics came flying past him. "I'm not going anywhere, I can't. Don't you see it? My legs don't work very well anymore, I'm stick right here."

Ceres stared up at Brutal for a lingering few seconds before she dared to kiss him this time. Her kiss was almost timid, afraid of the way she could feel herself falling. All the promises she had made herself, they seemed to count for little right then.

"Then sit here and die like the rest!" Lolly shouted, though her voice wasn't nearly as loud as before. This time she appeared near the back of the room for a split second then was gone again. It would probably remind him of the way the Banshees had moved around. "I don't want to talk. The whispers are talk enough!"

Brutal didn't know what to make of this. It was certainly unexpected. It was the last thing he'd thought she would do, though it was not unwelcomed. He returned her kiss, keeping it gentle. He would allow her to have control, knowing that she needed to feel empowered.

"What do the whispers say to you?" Victus asked, making it obvious he couldn't hear them. So far so good, the chip was working, of course, he wasn't fool enough to think it would last.

"I didn't kill Mimic." Ceres suddenly breathed against Brutal's lips. She didn't know why it was suddenly so important that he believed that.

"You can't hear them?" This stopped Lolly in her tracks. She stopped moving, finally appearing in the back of the room. She was an extremely pale girl, so thin that she look like nothing more than a skeleton. "He could hear them. Why can't you?" 

"I believe you." Brutal wasn't sure why it was so important that she know this right then. He would rather be taking that dress off and carrying her to the bed. He really didn't care much about Mimic or anything else for that matter.

"Why are you so afraid to tell me who 'he' is?" Victus pressed, doing everything he could to keep his gaze in lolly and not glance to the Turian remains in the room with them.

"Good." Ceres took a step away from Brutal and unzipped her dress, allowing it to slide to the ground around her feet. The young woman simply stood there watching Brutal from beneath her dark lashes, wondering if he would simply turn and flee. Her fear of intimacy was what had caused her so much pain in the past. She was done being afraid.

"Why are you asking so many questions?" Lolly asked, poised to disappear again. "Please...just leave...I don't want you hear or anyone else..."

"Ceres..." Brutal could barely breathe. He stepped forward, reaching out to touch her smooth skin. He bent his head pressing a kiss to her shoulder. "You are so lovely."

"I told you, I can't leave. And I just want to talk, is it so bad to talk to someone?" Victus asked.

Ceres felt her eyes flutter closed as Brutal kissed her shoulder. It was a wonderful feeling to hear him say that to her. She couldn't remember Jared saying it, and Mimic had made it more than clear that she was a thing for his amusement.

"There is nothing to talk about." Lolly said, watching his eyes as they again slid over to the body that sat between them. "He won't talk to you either. He...he stopped talking to me a long time ago." 

"Tell me what to do." Brutal breathed. "Tell me where you want this to go." He was trying hard to let Ceres have control, each word was paused by a kiss to her silken skin. He was tracing them all over, trying hard to keep himself calm and his hands to himself until she told him otherwise.

"Why did he stop talking? Did he say something you didn't like." Victus asked, trying to mask the pain he was in just by standing up this long unaided.

Ceres gently took Brutal's large hands and placed them against her shapely hips. "I don't want to be afraid anymore." She whispered. The young woman was fighting for control of her own each time Brutal's lips had touched one of her implants.

"Get out!" Victus would be forced off his feet. Lolly's biotics hit him hard enough to send him flying backward against the door. "You're no better than the rest of them!" She shouted at him, appearing near the corpse and gathering it in her arms. She sat rocking with it, the two of them sealed inside a biotic bubble. 

Brutal pulled Ceres toward the bed, sitting down on the edge. Once there he kissed her stomach, his hands still resting on her hips. "You don't have to be." He whispered, wanting desperately to show her that he wouldn't allow her to be hurt again.

Victus could barely breathe. He could feel old wounds open up that left a fresh wave of oain thanks to what Lolly had just hit him with. "You loved him, didn't you? And they locked you away."

Ceres rested her hands on Brutal's powerful shoulders as she looked down at him. They had gotten here so quickly, and suddenly she smiled slightly. "I tried to shoot you, and you still want me?"

"He was shot and they...wouldn't listen to me..." Lolly whispered, brushing the turian's head. Her stringy hair fell into the muck that remained and her fingers pulled away skin. She didn't seem to notice as she rocked with him. "He was still alive...but they wouldn't help him...and now they want to take him away!" She'd gone from whispering to shouting. "It's too late and now they want to help him!" 

Brutal smiled up at her, unable to help but chuckle. "You did shoot me, honey." He teased, pulling her down onto the bed with him. "But you have to remember, I pushed you off a cliff." He purred, pressing his lips to hers before she had a chance to say anything to this.

"Does he have a name that I may remember him by?" Victus asked softly, trying his very best not to be repulsed by the sight before him.

Ceres smirked as she landed on top of Brutal. "I didn't shoot you hard enough then." She breathed as she slid slender hands under his shirt.

"Golias." Lolly whispered, the biotic field wavering. "He was a prisoner...your people sent him away...called him dangerous...he understood me...he made the whispers stop..." She broke then, sobs shaking her tiny body. "He was all I had. He's gone and it's all my fault. I made him see his nightmares and he...he shot himself...I...I loved him..." She was crying openly now, something she didn't even know she was capable of doing. "I never even told him."

Brutal spent the night proving to Ceres that he was nothing like the other men that had hurt her. He allowed the little quarian to have complete control, only doing whatever it was that he was sure she wanted him to. 
The next morning Ceres would wake to find breakfast waiting for her on the desk next to the bed. Brutal had cleaned up the room while she slept and gotten rid of the piles that had littered the floor. 
At the moment he was in the shower, singing a rousing rendition of "Rosie the naughty Turian". It was version that would probably have made the drunken Victus blush.

Victus had managed to shuffle a little closer and eased down into a sitting position beside Lolly. "Why did you make him see things, if you loved him?" He asked, trying to understand the way she worked.

It was a mixture of the human's singing and the smell of breakfast that finally woke Ceres. She lay there for a moment, stretching out all her limbs, smiling at the strange new feeling that had her body still tingling. The young woman wasn't sure how she and Brutal had gone from screaming at each other, to the winder that had happened last night. Finally she had gotta out of the bed and was stood in the bathroom doorway wearing Brutal's shirt as she simply listened to him sing.

"I didn't mean to. I can't control it very well. When it starts it affects everyone. I can't tell them not to whisper to certain people." Lolly whispered, scooting away from him. She dragged the corpse with her, not noticing that it was falling apart.

Brutal didn't realize that he was no longer alone. He continued to sing, chuckling to himself between the verses.

"Has anyone ever tried to help you control it?" Victus asked, though didn't move closer when Lolly scooted away.

Ceres was smirking to herself when she went back to the bedroom and slipped on her omni tool. A second later she had activated the environmental controls for that room and the shower water suddenly ran ice cold.

"Did they really send you in here knowing nothing?" Lolly asked. "I am a weapon. I'm not supposed to control it. They send me out into crowds and I...I wipe them out. It doesn't matter who gets hurt or why. What did he call that...casualties?" 

"Ceres!" Brutal roared. "It was not hard to guess where the source of the water had come from. "Damn you, you...you...bitch!" He finally managed turning off the water. "What was that for?"

"They won't still think that when it's them you're killing." Victus replied gently. "Trust me on that one."

Ceres was rolling around in the bed in a fit of giggles. She could barely breathe she was laughing so much.

"I have killed the last of those that made me." Lolly said, glancing toward Victus. "What do you want from me? You come in here asking questions. You don't want to be my friend. The people who trapped us here sent you, didn't they? They're trying to figure out how to end me." She got up, trying to drag the body with her. She nearly fell apart all over again when it fell to pieces. She was left with nothing but the head. 

Brutal stomped into the room, trying to pretend to be angry with her. He was poised on the edge of the bed when his computer began to sound that he had an incoming message. "Damn it." He muttered. "I have to take this. You...I'm going to plot revenge and you'll have to worry about that." He purred, yanking his pants on and heading for his desk.

This time Victus reached out and lightly rested a hand on Lolly's thin shoulder. "It doesn't matter what other people want. You have them scared, and scared people do the most cruel of things."

Ceres poked her tongue out, though was still grinning when Brutal moved over to his desk. She didn't know who the call was from, and so began picking at the breakfast he had brought her. It didn't yet occur to the you f woman that she had just eaten the human food Brutal had brought for himself.

"Why can't you hear the whispers?" Lolly asked, glancing down at the hand on her shoulder. It had been so long since anyone had touched her. She'd forgotten what contact felt like. "Did they send you here to kill me?" 

Brutal wasn't on his call long before his smile faded and he was shoving away from the desk. "Ceres...you need to stay here." He growled. "I have something I need to...take care of." He added, grabbing for his gun and not bothering with his shirt.

"They sent me here to find a weakness in you." Victus replied honestly. "But it's plain to me that you are not what they told me. They treat you like an animal, and so you are right in acting like one. I want to help you."

Ceres' walls slid back into place when Brutal growled those words at her. She didn't say anything to him, instead turning her back to signal she wouldn't be spoken to in such a way.

Lolly shook her head. "He said that too." She murmured, yanking her shoulder away from him and holding up the turian's head. "Look where it got him. There is no help. And you're not answering my question. Why can't you hear the whispers?" She was beginning to create distance between them, the lights above beginning to surge with too much energy.

Brutal seemed to ignore this, grabbing for his boots and stomping out of the room. What had been said to him had hit a very raw nerve.

"Does it upset you that I can't hear them?" Victus asked, remaining infuriatingly calm. "Maybe I'm different, and that's why I can help you where others failed."

The moment the door shut, Ceres launched the breakfast plate at it, no doubt Brutal heard it perfectly well.

"Golias did not fail!" Lolly shouted, disappearing from in front of him and reappearing on the far side of the room. "It was your people who failed him!" 
"Victus, you need to step out now. We have a situation." Hackett's voice spoke softly into his ear piece.

Vicious seemed to ignore Hackett, though he did struggle back to his feet. "Lolly, you are not the only person to ever lose someone."

"I hate this feeling." Lolly said from her sanctuary in the darkness on the other side of the room. "The whispers are so loud now and I'm so very lonely..."
"It's about Orinia, Adrien." Hackett's voice was firm and pressing. "This is not something that can wait!"
