Precious memories

Wesker had gotten Rebecca back to the safety of the tiny facility where he had taken Claire and Leon's newborn children, it was also the place that Chris and Jill's dark haired daughter currently called home. However, for now wesker had left all three children in the care of someone else, his attention solely on easing Rebecca's pain and meding the wound he himself had given her.

Gently the little girl reached up and touched one of the tears just before it dripped off Rebecca's chin. "What's wrong with the baby?" She asked, showing Rebecca the kind of raw emotion ruby had exhibited as a small girl. "And If Ruby's father was such a nice man... Why did he leave her all alone?"

"Ruby was taken from her father." Rebecca whispered, ashamed of herself for wishing this little girl would go away. "The baby is okay." She lied.

"And he didn't care enough to come find her." The little girl whispered. "Miss Rebecca... Don't give up on her. Ruby fights too hard... Like she's trying to prove something." Even her young years allowed her the wisdom to know when she was being dismissed. "Goodnight... And I hope you will come show me your baby when he's born." She added quietly, though even she knew that she wouldn't live long enough to see that.

Rebecca sobbed openly when the little girl left. She cried for her baby and for the little girl she knew full well would be dead before the month was out.

"What is this doing in here?" A nurse had entered Rebecca's room to check on her, and was most displeased to find the ultrasound machine. "Miss chambers, you really should get back in bed!" She snapped, showing little care the poor woman was sobbing.

"No. I need a doctor...I need a phone..." Rebecca's words broke several times and she shook her head. "Don't move that...I want to see again...I need to check and be sure..."

"Be sure of what?" The nurse asked thinly, though for some reason didn't yet call for a doctor.

"There's something wrong with my baby!" Rebecca shouted, already on her feet and advancing toward the nurse. "You get me a doctor and a phone or I'll make you regret it! Do you hear me?!"

The nurse wasn't exactly intimidated, but she did relent and bring a doctor. "She seems hysterical." She explained to him. "Screaming something about her baby."

Rebecca was ashamed of herself for the way she was gripping a pencil in her fingers. She was truly intent on hurting this woman. "Don't you give me anything." She snarled.

The doctor was flipping through Rebecca's chart, though didn't pass comment on why it was in the room when there were strict instructions within it not to let her see it. "Then you would endanger your baby?" He asked her without looking up.

"It seems you shit heads already did." Rebecca snarled, still holding onto the pencil. "If this is your fault...I swear to god..."

"Now just you calm down there." The middle aged doctor told Rebecca sternly. "What is it you think is wrong?"

"His arm isn't formed right and his fucking intestines are hanging out of his body! Who the hell made a note in there not to tell me about this? You bastards didn't even tell me I was pregnant! And...And I will not calm down!" Rebecca roared.

The doctor and the nurse exchanged worried glances, then without spoken instructions, the nurse simply left. "Your partner, mr wesker? He was very specific in our not giving you any information on your condition."

Rebecca snorted at this, her chin quivering as she closed her eyes. "Of course he would." She muttered, barely able to get the words out. "I have to get out of here...Sign me out...I have to go fix this.."

The doctor shook his head. "You are not mentally sound." He told her. "I was told you would try and leave, and you were to be committed to the psychiatric ward if you insisted."

"That son of a bitch!" Rebecca shouted, putting the bed between herself and the doctor. "I'll...I swear...I'll knock his teeth out! And you too if you get near me! Do you hear me! Get me a phone!"

"You did this to yourself." The doctor warned, gesturing to the small velvet box Wesker had left on the nightstand. "You turned him away, he is merely protecting the part of himself he left you with."

Rebecca looked toward the box and then the doctor, confusion all over her face. "When did I turn him away?!" She all but cried, horror making her heart settle deeper in the pit of her stomach. "No. I would never! I love him! I would never turn him away!"

"He confessed his love to you... And you told him you were not tied to him alone." The doctor replied with a cruel smile. "You went into great detail, by all account. He left the ring he was going to give you when he asked you to marry him. He said he wasn't turning his back on another of his offspring, but he couldn't be with a woman who whored herself out."

Rebecca felt the floor coming out from under her. "No. I never said that. I have never...there's never been another man! Give me that goddamn phone!" She screamed.

The doctor did finally relent and handed Rebecca his own cellphone. "He won't answer. Damnm me for saying it, but you really hurt him."

"You'll be lucky if I don't stab this pencil in your ear. Forget being damned." Rebecca snarled, dialing Wesker's cell phone number.

The doctor waited patiently, even sitting down on the bed.

On the other end of the line Wesker's voice was even colder than usual. "I told you not to contact me." He barked, assuming it was the doctor himself.

"Albert...I need you." Rebecca breathed, her voice cracking as another sob threatened to escape. "Please...don't leave me here...I need you."

"But I no longer need you." Wrsker replied, his voice betraying nothing of his true feelings. "You made yourself quite clear. I will return when the baby is born to collect him, or her, then we will have no further contact."

"No...I never said that...Albert, please...listen to me..." Rebecca could barely keep herself from dropping to her knees. "Let me explain...come talk to me...don't do this. I need you. I love you. Please, don't..."

"What you really mean, is that no one else wants you now you are with child." Wesker corrected icily. "I have a package I need to pick up from the hospital. I will speak with you then. That is all." His coldness was an overcompensation for just how much Rebecca's less than lucid words had caused him.

Rebecca handed the phone back to the doctor with shaking fingers. "Get out." She whispered, wishing she felt like running. This wasn't the first time she'd wanted to try and outrun all her problems. Not that it helped.
