Precious memories

Wesker had gotten Rebecca back to the safety of the tiny facility where he had taken Claire and Leon's newborn children, it was also the place that Chris and Jill's dark haired daughter currently called home. However, for now wesker had left all three children in the care of someone else, his attention solely on easing Rebecca's pain and meding the wound he himself had given her.

Rebecca slept for what seemed like days. It was as if she hadn't slept since they'd been apart. As before it took an act of near death to get her to rest.

As Rebecca slumbered, wesker soon found himself overpowered. He had needed his latest dose of his injections, and the injury to his spine had slowed him down considerably. Dave would have no problem whatsoever seizing control of the facility, and it's young captives.

Rebecca woke to the silence that was almost worse than death. She had a terrible feeling that something was truly wrong. "Albert?" She sat up and looked around, her stomach churning.

"can I help you with something?" A young woman asked as she came to answer Rebecca's call, a dark haired little girl following behind her. "You've been out of it for quite some time, you must be famished!"

"Who are you?" Rebecca grunted softly and reached for her shoulder, reminded that Wesker had managed to shoot her yet again. Never mind tossing her out a window. That certainly hadn't been her day. "Where am I and where is Albert?" She added, her fingers hovering over her injured shoulder.

"Albert? You mean the monster that damn near mutilated you?" The young woman asked, her green eyes wide as she stared back at Rebecca.
"Uncle Abert isn't a monster." The little girl piped up from behind the woman who had come to Rebecca's aid.

"Where is he?!" Rebecca shouted, all but shoving to her feet. The floor beneath her feet began to spin and she was forced to sit down again.

The little girl cowered slightly, holding onto the leg of the woman in front of her. "Mr. Dave said uncle Albert was sick... Like my puppy was."

Rebecca knew where she was as the little girl spoke and instantly a fresh wave of guilt hit her. She was back in the island lab Wesker had once brought her to. And...it seemed she'd done more than kill a mother dog. She'd murdered a little girl's pet.
At this she simply sat down again and began to dry heave.

The little girl crouched down next to Rebecca, touching the ends of her silken hair gently. "Are you going to be my new mommy?" She asked innocently. "You're very pretty."

Rebecca could feel warm tears sliding down her cheeks as she nodded her head. She didn't know what else to say. At the moment there didn't seem to be anything else that would make it right.

This seemed to please the little girl no end and she threw her arms around Rebecca, tumbling them both to the floor. "Oh we're going to have so much fun!" She declared. "Uncle wesker said my real mommy didn't love me... That's why he had to dis...dis...dispose of her." She added, struggling with the word, which was understandable given her young years. However, it was already quite apparent that wesker had had a hand in artificially advancing Ruby Redfield, both physically and mentally.

Rebecca groaned loudly as her injured shoulder slammed into the floor. "Sweetie...I need to speak to Uncle Wesker...will you take me to him?"

Ruby shook her head, a mass of dark hair tumbling over her tiny shoulders as she did so. "Mr Dave said Uncle Albert had been a very naughty boy." She whispered, as though it was a big secret she wasn't supposed to tell.

"Oh hell..." Rebecca shoved off the floor and past the woman as she made a mad dash for the hall. The tour Wesker had given her months ago was not that fresh in her memory and after three or four turns, she was lost.

Unlike Rebecca, Ruby knew these halls extremely well, this was after all her home. "Do you like playing with uncle Albert too? Is that why you're looking for him?" The little girl asked, having tailed Rebecca even as she got herself lost.

"Uncle Wesker is my..." Rebecca tried to find a way to describe the relationship she shared with Albert Wesker. "He's my...boyfriend." She settled on finally. "I've been away from him for a while and I'm worried about him."

Ruby wrinkled her button nose at this thought. "Boyfriend? That's what the mean lady uncle Albert left me with wants Mr. Dave to be." She commented. "If I take you to uncle Albert... Will you play with me?"

"Do you like playing tea party?" Rebecca asked with a sudden grin. All her life she'd wanted a child of her own but she'd never been given the chance. Perhaps this was her opportunity...

"Like Alice?" Ruby asked with a beaming smile. "Uncle Albert used to read to me all the time, but I liked the stories about Alice the best." She added, painting an odd picture of Wesker as any kind of good father figure.

Rebecca raised an eyebrow at this. The thought of Wesker reading anything aloud didn't sound right to her. She found herself wondering if that was how he'd begun to train his clone. Making it do the things he certainly wouldn't made much more sense. "My favorite was the Wizard of Oz. Have you ever read that one?" She asked the little girl as she followed her.

Ruby beamed even more at this, lifting a foot up to wiggle her foot at Rebecca. "Uncle Albert bought me my very own ruby slippers." She replied gleefully. "He said I should be happy to have my shoes match my name." She added with a giggle.

Rebecca looked at the girl as if she'd grown an extra head. That wasn't her Albert at all. But maybe...she really didn't know him at all.

Ruby's smile faded and she pouted slightly when she saw the way Rebecca was looking at her. "Uncle Albert never talked about you." She told Rebecca sullenly, unknowingly reaffirming the thought that it wasn't actually the true Albert Wesker who had taken care of her all these years

At least Rebecca hoped it wasn't the true Albert Wesker. It made her stomach hurt to think that he might have simply forgotten her.
"So where is he?" She asked again. "Is he okay? Did Mister Dave hurt him?"

Ruby shrugged her shoulders, her mood having change alarmingly quickly. "The mean lady doesn't let me talk to Mr. Dave anymore." She replied. "He said I was cute as a button... Which I thought was kinda mean... Buttons are ugly. But the mean lady got jealous and sent me to my room anyway."

"I don't like buttons either." Rebecca snorted. "They don't do anything but get in the way."

Ruby nodded in agreement. "Wanna know a secret?" She asked Rebecca, grinning all over again. "I'm gonna marry Mr. Dave when I grow up."

Rebecca gave her a horrified look and shook her head. "I wouldn't touch that monster with a ten foot pole. You stay away from him, Ruby. He's nothing but trouble."
"Now that really hurts." Dave said mockingly, sitting on the beams above them. "I'm a nice guy. It's dear old Albie that's the monster."
