So slow to catch on

Jill gave Leon a little push, then smiled. "Believe me, these things can last days." She assured him. "Besides, I want the chance to grill you myself."
"You doubt my suitability as a mother?" Claire asked thinly, folding her arms across her chest.

Jill's fingers were warm as they idly slid beneath Chris shirt, simply for the feel of his skin against her own as she held him. "You need to rest." She told him softly. "Don't deny yourself at least that much."

"Not until we get where I promised you." Chris said firmly, gently pushing her arms down so that he could head into the gas station.

Jill remained by the car as Chris walked away and into the gas station. Strtange a it was, she felt far mor elost when she was around him, than she had the short period after waking in that mare and not know who she was, or even where she was. He blew hot and cold so often that she found it difficult to keep up.

Chris came out with two cups of coffee and a single rose between his teeth. He was hoping to remind her of a tradition he'd started long ago and had still kept up, even when he believed her to be dead.

Jill was perplexed by the rose between Chris' teeth as he drew nearer, but smiled none the less. "She thought maybe the rise was in memory of his niece that he had told her died recently.

"Coffee just the way you like it." Chris told her, his words slurred by the delicate stem between his teeth. "And our traditional rose picked right out of the finest rest stop garden." He teased.

Jill gently plucked the flower from between chris's teeth, careful not to injure him with the thorns. She looked down at the pink petals, smiling a little as she ran her fingers over the velvet texture. "Pink... My favourite." She murmured, the ghost of a memory returning to her. "You first bought me these... After our first night together, didn't you?" She asked as she looked up. "Because you had to leave before I woke up?"

Chris nodded, a light returning to his eyes. "My phone went off. It was our Captain. I couldn't even tell you. It was an emergency and I didn't even have time to leave a note."

Jill smiled again and lifted the rose to her nose as she breathed it in. "I... Imagine I was upset, thinking you had left because you gotten what you wanted from me..." She replied softly.

"You yelled at me in front of everyone." Chris nodded, still grinning. "You didn't come right out and say it but I think they all got the idea. That's when Wesker made that huge speech about not touching our teammates."

Jill blushed slightly, imagining what the teammates she didn't even remember must have thought about herself and Chris carrying on like they obviously had been. "Why do I get the feeling... That speech just made us want each other all the more?" She asked with a grin of her own. "The danger of forbidden fruit, and all that."

Chris nodded, pausing to take a sip of his coffee. "Everywhere we could. The roof, the locker room, and...even the Captain's desk."

Jill's cheeks burned furiously, though she was grinning up at Chris, still holding the rose in one hand while nursing her coffee with the other. "On his desk?!" She asked with a squeal of laughter. "Please tell me he didn't catch us! That would just be too much!"

"Okay I won't tell you anything." Chris purred, helping her into the car and getting back into the driver's seat. "I'll just say this, it was very painful for me."

"Why? Did the Captain have his wicked little way with you on that desk too?" Jill asked with a smirk.

"Jill!" Chris wailed, making a disgusted face. "That's just disgusting! Wesker is pure evil! And I'm...I'm not that way!"

"But you are hot, I couldn't blame him for at least trying." Jill teased, seeming to revel in teasing her partner about his sexual orientation. "Come on... I bet you thought about me at least kissing other woman before now. It works both ways, tough guy."

Chris blushed deeply. "That's none of your business, babe." He muttered. "I don't have to tell you all of my deepest darkest secrets."

"I knew it!" Jill declared with a triumphant grin. "So come on, who was she? Did you at least imagine me with some gorgeous hottie?"

"What did I just say?" Chris asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm not telling you anything, woman. No matter what you try to do to get me to talk!"

"No matter what?" Jill breathed with a devilish grin as her slender finger slowly moved up Chris' thigh.

"No matter what." Chris said, though his voice was no longer firm and sure of himself.

"Uh huh..." Jill breathed, leaning closer as Chris drove to brush her lips lightly to his cheek as her fingers continued to tease him. "I'm thinking... That rose was an invite. That you and I... Have something we need to be doing..."

"I was not..." Chris paused, taking in several deep breaths. "I wasn't trying to suggest anything." He breathed, though he was seriously wishing he had. "You might not be ready for that step yet."

"Are you... Afraid?" Jill teased, pulling back slightly when she realised teasing him any hard may mean him crashing the car. "I understand though, it's sweet your thinking about my welfare so much. You're right though... We should just get some sleep."

"Not until we get to Florida." Chris told her, shaking his head. "You should...but I need to make sure we get there. I hate stopping in between."

"And we may not even get there in piece if you fall added at the wheel and kill us both!" Jill replied. "Pull the damn car over, and your ass some sleep!" She commanded.

"I can go for days, Jill." Chris snapped, shaking his head. "You know that. I do what I have to do. But...do me a favor and get my cell phone out of my pocket...please?"

"No." Jill replied, simply to be awkward. "You want your phone? Stop the car and get it out your damn self!"

Chris scowled at her in return, for the moment feeling as if she might be saying things just to piss him off. "What if I said please?" He asked with a dark hiss.
