Parker smiled at Chris slightly, patting him on the shoulder. "For what it's worth... I'm sorry too. I was so obsessed with finding Alex... I didn't stop to see the signs. I should have found out Jill was pregnant... Had I known that..." He paused and ran his fingers through his hair. "I do blame myself for what happened to her."

Chris never responded to this. As soon as they were inside the building he muttered something about needing to get Parker certified and left the other man to navigate the holding cells alone.
Jessica, it seemed, had been waiting all day and half the night for him. She visibly brightened when he was let into her cell. "Parker!" She gushed, leaping to her feet to throw her arms around him. "I knew you wouldn't let me down!"

"Yes. Jill...is your mother." Chris said gently, leading her to a seat again and handing her the picture again. "We were so excited when she found out she was having you."

"Parker, you are going to listen to me this time!" His mother shouted in frustration. "That boy is with his true father. He is where he should be. You stop this and use your head!"

Violet stared down at the picture, small fingers touching her nose, then her lips lightly, making it quite obvious she was wondering if she looked anything like the mother she didn't know.

"A rapist cannot be a father, he merely left his DNA behind!" Parker snarled. "Of you k we him at all... You would know that Alex is not safe!"

"Exactly." Chris whispered, as if he knew exactly what she was thinking.

"I know that I care about my own son." Parker's mother whispered softly. Tears sliding down her cheeks. "I nearly lost you. That woman and her poor choices are not worth your life to me."

Violet's gaze flicked upwards to look at Chris. "Why didn't you come for me?" She asked quietly. "Why did you et him keep me?!"

"That 'woman' is worth the world to me!" Parker hissed. "You have no right interfering like this!"

"I didn't know." Chris whispered, now holding onto Violet so tightly he might very well make her eyes bug out. "Baby, I didn't know. I thought you and your mother were dead...I would have gone to hell if I thought I could have saved you."

"I have every right!" His mother shouted, slapping him rather hard. "I am your mother! I know what is best for you and that broken little bitch is not it! That man that has her now can keep her. And you...you will never speak of it again. You will go home and get well and forget her and that devil spawn boy!"

"you saved her!" Violet practically wailed. "You saved Jill, and never even about me!" Despite her accusation, she clung tightly to her lost father.

"Who is he?" Parker hissed. "Who is the man you let steal her from me?!"

"She didn't know. I didn't know. We thought you'd died inside her. We had no idea." Chris whispered, warm tears dripping onto her neck as he buried his face in her hair. "I'm so sorry."

"Parker, this man gave us alot of money...He saved your father's business...He did so many things and all if we would agree to get you away from Rebecca...and then after what she did to you...we knew we'd done the right thing." His mother all but blubbered, her words fading into a sob.

"I want to see her." Violet breathed. "I... I want to know if... She wants me."

"You were bought off?!" Parker snarled. "You always taught me to be a hero, to stand up for what was right! And now... You sacrificed a woman and a child for the sake of a few euros?!"

"Okay." Chris whispered, picking up the little girl and carrying her back out to his car. It was then that he saw the deep scratch. "What the...some asshole..." He growled and shook his head.

"It was mainly for our own son!" His mother sobbed. "I couldn't lose you, Parker! Not for her. Not for a woman who's not even one of us! Please. Please understand."

Violet glanced away, pretending not to notice the scratch. "What if she doesn't like me? What if I upset her?" She breathed, suddenly incredibly nervous.

"One of us? How can you even think like that!" Parker couldn't understand why his other had done this. "Shouldn't any woman I choose to marry... Be 'one of us'?"

"Oh, kiddo. How could you even think that? Your mother wanted you so much. She will still want you. When she wakes up...we'll make up for lost time. Okay?"

"Not her. The look in her eyes. She knows things that can breed only sadness. Can you imagine having a child of your own with her?" His mother scoffed, still sniffling.

Violet didn't reply, though her head did loll against her father as he carried her. She was thinking of Alex, wondering if he found the family he missed so much.

"I imagined it every day." Parker replied proudly. "Having a child with Rebecca would make me the happiest man alive... And you ruined it!"

Chris carried Violet into Jill's room and sat the young girl down on the bed. "She's been asleep for a while but...the doctor told me she can hear you if you want to talk to her."

"I hardly call it ruining when I saved you from having an infant as screwed up as the child she already had!" His mother shouted angrily.

Violet wasn't even sure where to begin. The little girl stated by touching Jill's face lightly, having only seen her with her mask on. "Why is she sleeping?"

"What did you say?" Parker asked, his voice so very quiet now. "Choose your words carefully, mother."

"She went through a lot." Chris said softly, his fingers sliding over Jill's wrist. "She needs rest and time to get past it. Probably...you do too..."

"You heard what I said." His mother replied, wiping at her nose. "I am not sorry for it either. Rebecca's fate has been sealed and it is time you saw that and let her go."

"Get past what?" Violet asked with a frown when Chris suggested she needed time too.

Parker was on his feet again and stumbling for the door. "Rebecca would never let you murder our child!"

Chris shrugged. "I can't tell you." He whispered. "I've never been there." He wanted so badly for Jill to wake up and open her eyes. He needed her to make sure that he had not gone crazy.

"Parker, stop it!" His mother cried, trying her best to steer him back toward the bed. "I made a promise to Armand that you wouldn't cause trouble. He'll kill us if you do."

Violet returned her attention to Jill, touching the scars on the elder woman's chest lightly. "I remember this... She had to wear a machine so Wesker could control her..."

"Armand? Is that his name? The bastard whoh stole my wife, killed my child, and bribed my own family?!"

"Did he do that to you too?" Chris asked, watching Violet. He wanted to kill Wesker all over again. But he was sure it was too late for that.

His mother nodded slowly. "She was not pregnant, Parker. And the boy is not yours..." She whispered, feeling like she was losing the battle.

Violet lay down next to her mother, resting her head lightly against the sleeping woman's shoulder. "He didn't have to." Violet whispered. "I thought I was alone... I thought he had saved me..."

"We shall see!" Parker was out the door now, stomping down the hallway, all with his backside on show.

"He stole you." Chris whispered, leaning close to Jill and whispering something in her ear. "He kept you from the life we were so ready to give you." He finished, pressing another kiss to Violet's temple.

"Parker!" His mother shouted. "At least put some pants on, child!"

"I liked the school he sent me to." Violet whispered, missing the twitch of her mothers fingers. " It had lots of books. I like to read... To pretend I visit places I'll never really get to see."

"No! I have to find your 'Armand'... He has something that belongs to me!" It bothered Parker that so much trouble had been gone to to keep him from Rebecca; what did Armand really want with her?

"Baby, when your mom wakes up I will take you anywhere you want to go." Chris whispered to her, pulling the blanket up to her shoulders and resting Jill's arm on her shoulder. "I promise."

"Parker! You are practically naked, child!" His mother shouted after him. "Can it not wait until you are well again!"

"Don't promise... No one ever keeps promises..." Violet breathed. It was heartbreaking to think that a child so young had already lost faith in the power of a promise. Violet was sleeping when Jill did finally wake up. The little girl was right where her father had left her, needless to say... Jill was wondering who the child curled against her was.

"Doctor Chambers! Where is she?!" Parker demanded when he finally reached the nurses station, ignoring his mother.

Chris was resting in the chair facing the door. If even one person tried to step in the room he would know about it. His gun rested in his lap, the fingers of his right hand curled around it.

"Who?" The nurse looked at Parker as if he'd lost his mind. "Sir...do you need something? More pain meds perhaps?"

"Chris?" Jill wheezed her partner's name. Instinctively, she didn't wish to wake the little girl sleeping next to her.

"Rebecca Chambers! Doctor Chambers!" Parker barked. "I know she is here, because she was the one who examined me when I woke up!"

"Jill?" Chris was quick to open his eyes and look at the woman who'd been sleeping for nearly two weeks. "Honey?"

The nurse raised an eyebrow but inspected the list in front of her anyway. "I'm sorry, there's no Chambers here. Dr. Armand is the one taking care of you...shall I ring him?"

"Chris? Where am I'm what happened?" Jill breathed, looking down at the top of the dark head that was slumbering against her shoulder.

"Oh please, go right ahead." Parker replied darkly, making a sweeping gesture towards the phone with his hand.

"You passed out weeks ago...Jill, there's something we need to talk about." Chris said as he got up slowly and placed his gun in the back of his jeans.

The nurse frowned at him and did as he suggested. In a few moments a doctor was stepping out of the stairwell. Parker would know him instantly. The man was rather short but well built. He carried himself like someone well off. "Mr. Luciani." He said as he drew near the other man. "It's good to see you awake."

"Does it explain this?" Jill asked, motioning down to the little girl with her head. "Chris... How long have I been unconscious?"

Parker was stomping over to the male doctor and shoved him against the wall next to the door of the stairwell. what did you do to her?!"
