"I wanted you when you were still finding your feet in the world, is that not in itself enough?" Wesker replied, surprised to find he was gently stroking his fingers through Rebecca's hair.

"Because they don't know I'm here!" Dave shouted in frustration. Well that had blown up in his face... He'd meant to say something entirely different.

Wesker chuckled quietly, then shot up at the beam Dave was balanced on. "Oh dear... Silly little boy..."

Dave barely caught himself before he fell. "Listen...this chat was nice...but I need to go now..." He said rather quickly. "There's...people to see and all that..."

"By all measn go... If you can." Wesker purred, shooting again, and then once more. "After all... People are waiting on you." He added sarcastically.

The last bullet hit Dave in the calf. This time his jump failed him and he landed hard on the beam, his legs swinging off the side. A drop of blood struck Wesker's cheek.

Weskers yellow eyes lingered on Dave as he slowly reached a hand up to wipe at the blood, a cruel smile on his lips. "Jump again, it's more fun to shoot a moving target." He mocked.

"I...can't..." Dave found that his arms were slipping. He was about to simply fall. But finally he managed to lift himself onto the beam. Precariously he laid there for a long moment, trying to force himself to get up again.

"Tick tock... I can wait a lifetime, Dave, but the bigger question is... How can you survive losing blood the way you are?" Wesker called up to him.

"You're going to kill me anyway!" Dave shouted, not yet moving. "So why should you care if I don't survive. Just leave me here. I'll die like a spider or whatever."

"But I much prefer pulling the legs off one by one, and perhaps feeding the torso to a small animal." Wesker replied darkly. "Where is the fun in merely leaving you there to rot?"

Dave turned over, fixing his deep blue gaze on Wesker. "Spencer said you were nasty. I should have listened to him I think." He hissed, now on his feet again and vaulting toward the window.

"Where do you think I learned it from?" Wesker asked icily. "Spencer only chose the most sinister of an already bad bunch." He added. "The old man was rather adamant about his... Subjects... Being as coldly ruthless as he was. After all... He did have us murder his oldest friend."

Again Dave was floored by the elder man's words. He again slipped on the beam, this time loosing his balance completely. He landed mere inches from the glass doors. "Spencer told me to...stay away from you..." He grunted, trying to force himself up again. "But I couldn't...I had to see you...to see..." He couldn't get up. His body was giving in to the darkness.

By his own admission, wesker was intrigued by Dave's words, the only reason the younger man was currently still alive. After he fell, Dave had been taken to one of the floors undamaged by fire. There Wesker would have Rebecca check him over.

Rebecca was frowning as she looked over the young man, shaking her head. "A fall like that should have broken something." She said darkly, looking over the x-rays on her desk. "Even the bullet wound is closed up...Albert, there's something wrong with this man because...there's nothing wrong with him."

This, of course, didn't please Wesker. "It may explain how he was also able to get all the way into your lab without genuine clearance." He pondered out loud. "Did you test his blood yet? Compare it to mine."

"Compare it to yours?" Rebecca echoed, lifting her head to frown at Wesker. "Why on earth would I need to do something like that?" She asked, removing the cap from Dave's head to reveal a wild shock of blonde hair beneath.

Wesker merely arched his brow in reply. "Just humour me, okay?" He asked, not liking the path this turn of events were taking. He didn't like feeling this out of control.

Rebecca simply nodded to this, though she was paying more attention to the blonde hair. "I wonder if he's heard of styling gel." She snorted, glad that her boyfriend took care of his hair. "Get me a sample and I'll get his..." She added as an after thought. "This guy is from the BSAA. Right? I've seen him before I think."

Wesker nodded, confirming the BSAA link. "Aparently he knows Chris. He came here on some stupid solo mission to try and gain the fools friendship."

"You know...the last time I heard of this guy..." Rebecca was chewing thoughtfully on her bottom lip. "Dave Johnson. That's right. Chris had sent over a list of the dead while he was in Africa. Dave's name was on it...Chris never sent names unless he'd confirmed it..." She finished taking the young man's blood and held her hand out for Wesker's. "This is going to take a bit."

Wesker rolled up his sleeve and held out his arm. "Then you think perhaps this man... was dead, but now isn't?"

Rebecca's finger were gentle as she held her lover's arm in place to take his blood. She shook her head as she slid in the syringe. She knew it wouldn't hurt him, but she still didn't think there was a reason to be cruel. At least not at the moment. "I'll have to hack into the database but if I remember right, that Dave's death was pretty gruesome."

"Gruesome, in the way that his body could never have repaired?" Wesker asked. "Because if you recall, my death was hardly a walk in the park." He added, not really imagining the kind of death Dave had actually suffered.

Rebecca didn't like to think about Wesker's death. The very memory made her stomach churn. She'd been unable to do anything but lie there, dying herself.
"Give me a minute." She said after what seemed like eternity. She finished the samples and began the tests. They'd know everything soon enough. Another few minutes had her inside the BSAA officer list. And then there was Dave's profile. His picture, the wild shock of blonde hair included, was right next to what appeared to be human remains in a footprint crater.

Wesker saw the photograph, and was now peering down into the face of Dave's inconsciousform. "Who, or what, are you?" He murmured, beginning to wonder of maybe Spencer's experiments hadn't actually ended with wesker himself.

It was late that evening when the results came in. Rebecca was pouring over them at her desk, ever once in a while looking up to the cage that now held Dave.
The young man had been awake for nearly an hour now and he was sitting on the floor, staring hard at the wall beyond. He hadn't spoken a word.
"Albert..." Rebecca picked up her phone to call her lover, not sure she truly wanted to. "You need to get down here."

Wesker said nothing in reply, though the line went dead, indicating he was indeed on his way. He had had time to ponder the younger man's identity, and for once he wished his mind would simply stop working. It was going into over drive and coming up with more and more outlandish results. "Does our guest have a name then?" He asked Rebecca as he entered the lab. "Seeing as he can't possibly be the Dave from Chris' report."

"David Wesker." Rebecca said softly, though she didn't dare look at her own Wesker. "His name was changed so that he could join the BSAA undetected. He is the grandson of Ozwell E. Spencer...the son of Spencer's only daughter Rachel." Dave didn't so much as blink as Rebecca revealed part of his secrets. It was as if he'd simply turned himself off. "He is indeed the Dave from Chris' report. The blood samples match."

"Rachel? No... That is impossible!" Wesker suddenly barked. He didn't like this new information, not one little bit. "Test it again. You're wrong."
