"I wanted you when you were still finding your feet in the world, is that not in itself enough?" Wesker replied, surprised to find he was gently stroking his fingers through Rebecca's hair.

Rebecca cringed as if she'd been struck. "I...I did." She whispered. "Three times...the results are the same."
Dave's snort was audible, even from the distance between them. "What's the matter, your wickedness? Not what you wanted to hear?"

Wesker's yellowed eyes gaze snapped over to Dave, narrowing slightly. "Rachel never had a child." He told both younger people confidently. "She never got the chance!"

"You mean since you dropped her off the staircase?" Dave hissed, now glaring openly at Wesker. "Did you think that just because you killed her that you could kill the baby she was carrying too? You think the old man would really risk that? Given that a manufactured being created another?"

"No one knew!" Wesker growled, not meaning to admit to knowing Rachel had indeed been pregnant. "She was a beautiful failure, nothing else."

"You were the failure!" Dave roared, now on his feet. "My mother was human! You are the manufactured one and everyone knew it! Don't you dare try to blame her! The only thing she ever did wrong was YOU!"

"Boy, I wasn't the only one she was... Doing." Wesker sneered. "Perhaps I was manufactured, but all I have ever been was perfect, and Rachel..." He paused and shook his head. "She was a needy little girl." That was a lie and he knew it. Rachel Spencer had been the first woman Albert Wesker had ever loved. She had been both brilliant, and beautiful.

Dave turned his back on Wesker, his shoulders heaving. "At least you knew her." He whispered after a long moment. "All I ever saw was her shell. What was left of her when you were finished. The old man never could bring her back."
Rebecca was staring in shock at her lover as she listened to this argument unfold. Her head was suddenly swimming with a past she knew nothing about.

"That was my intention." Wesker replied darkly. "I took away the only thing the old man had ever loved. Had I known you had survived... I would have exterminated you like the parasite you are!"

"You knew I was there." Dave whispered, lowering himself to a sitting position again. "I lived in that mansion just like you did. You just chose not to see me. If you weren't so blind, we could have ended this a long time ago."

"I very rarely take note of the insignificant." Wesker responded icily. "In that mansion, I had actual work to do, and no time to be noticing some whining little brat."

Dave clammed up. He said nothing more to Wesker or Rebecca for the remainder of the night. It wasn't as though anyone was really talking anyway. Rebecca wasn't too sure there was anything to be said.

Wesker was colder than usual. He still went about his work, but this time as he sat at his computer... He was digging into the past. Right then, he was staring at an old picture of Rachel Spencer, standing proudly beside her father. He had often wondered; would he have still wanted her, had she not been a Spencer?

Against her better judgement Rebecca found herself standing behind her lover, her fingers resting on his powerful shoulders. "I'm sorry to make things so bad for you, Albert. I shouldn't have said anything."

"It wasn't your fault the wretch showed up." Wesker replied, closing the picture of Rachel and her father. "It is merely an inconvenience."

"Was he looking for you?" Rebecca asked as she seated herself on the desk in front of him. "Is that why he came here? Surely he couldn't be going to Chris."

"He claimed to know I hadn't died, so he came to get proof to take back to Chris." Wesker replied, pulling Rebecca off the desk and into his lap.

Rebecca slid her arms around Wesker's waist and rested her head on his chest. "What do you plan to do with him?" She asked, glad that her lover didn't seem to be angry with her.

Wesker sighed and shook his head. "Honestly... I don't know. What am I supposed to do? He breached our security, destroyed your months of hard work. Am I supposed to let that slide, simply because I donated half his chromosomes?"

"I wish I had some genius answer for you." Rebecca sighed heavily. "But I don't. You know how wishy washy I can be. But...Albert, don't make any rash decisions. At least not until we get straight answers from him."

"We will never get a straight answer from him." Wesker replied firmly. "He has been raised to hate me, and everything about me. I don't care about that, but it does worry me that you may get the fool impression that you can 'save him', so to speak."

"That's entirely unfair." Rebecca pouted. "I don't know anything about that guy. I'm not going to save some kid just because some blood says he's yours. I'm done with saving people. The last time I did it, it nearly got me killed."

Wesker chuckled quietly and tweaked Rebecca's pert nose. "You'll never truly rid yourself of that saviour complex, you'll always want to save even strangers."

Rebecca poked out her tongue at him, waving his fingers away. "I had no intention of saving you." She teased, both of them knowing she was lying. She'd crawled to his side as he lay dying and she'd tried to stop the blood while Chris was fighting the Tyrant. He'd died in her arms.

"Oh? So what were you doing? Just having a final grope, thinking you were dying too?" Wesker teased, proving her remembered more than he had let on.

"I don't see what harm there was in it." Rebecca purred, groping him now as if to prove her point.

Wesker rumbled in appreciation, his hand slowly sliding up the back of her shirt. "I can think of better things than groping..." He purred.

Dave woke nearly everyone in the labs early the next morning. Wesker would find himself alone in the bed when he finally woke. Rebecca had gone with the others to try and figure out why the young man was suddenly howling as if his insides were being ripped out.

Wesker childishly threw an arm over his eyes when he woke to the sound of Dave's screams. "It's always such drama..." He murmured as he finally sat up and figured he had better find his pants, at the very least.

When Wesker walked into the lab, Rebecca was preparing a dart gun. Dave was still howling, his back arched in a show that was truly a great one. All around her, the employees were covering their ears. But Jackie simply sat on Rebecca's desk, staring wide eyed at the other man.

"What happened? Did you break a nail?" Wesker sneered at he came to a halt in front of Dave's cage. "No, perhaps you have a bad tummy and need your mommy to make it all better? Oh, wait.... I killed her already." He truly was cruel when waking in a bad mood.
